Car warm up and cool down time?
For an 08 turbo, how long do you guys take to warm up the car before driving(from cold start) and how long do you take to cool down after normal and aggressive driving conditions?
The manual says not to idle the car at all and to start and drive off right away. Doesn't say anything about cooling down. Thoughts?

i start driving as soon as i turn my car on,
as for cool down...If i am driving very hard then I will cruise for a couple minutes slowly and then just turn the car off, if driving normally i will just turn it off.

I drive right away, just go easy on it until its well warmed up. I dont cool mine down, just turn it off. Never run it hard immediately before I park it so dont need to. That was important when turbos were oil cooled and the oil would coke up inside.

allegedly the trans shifting is a way to produce heat and warms it up; let the oil pumps cool down for a minute before you shut motor off- this flat 6 design holds oil on top of cylinders causing slight smoke on start ups if ya dont let her cool down (gauge far right) when it levels down...

The only time I give my car a "cool down" is at a DE. I usually let it idle for 3-5 minutes to cool things off and let the oil get back to were it needs to be. This prevents any smoke up for the next session.
I always let the oil warm up before I drive her hard as well.e

Start, idle for a few seconds, drive off. Smooth and gentle as components come up to operating temperature (engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials, bearings and etc.). Once up to operating temperature drive as hard as the heart desires.
Since I live in an apartment complex and I need to go down a couple of garage levels to where I park the car, I drive gently to the parking spot and I shut her off.
I do walk around the car and will look under it most times when I get out to look for any smoke, leaks, smells and etc.

Aren't most turbos still oil cooled? Either exclusively, or in conjunction with water cooling.
