HRs are installed to my 997TT for two years now...And really like them...ride is not stiff at all...and frankly there are times I wish these springs were a little harder...

I found them stiff enough in SPORT mode.

Does it negatively affect gas mileage?

no, positively, as you cannot drive as fast as before (for fear of ripping the front off).
