Common problem in 997.2 TT cabs?

Hello all,

I have a 2011 Turbo S cab, and I've noticed lately that my passenger side window will not go all the way up when I hold down the close top lever. It acts as if something is stopping it, and forces it to retract.

I checked with my local Porsche dealer, and they mentioned seeing an increase in issues having to do with some sort of sensor malfunction in the windows causing the exact same problem. They reassured me that they'd fix it for free and it's under warranty.

I'm just curious to know if any of you cab owners, or non- cab owners for that matter, have experienced anything similar.

Thanks in advance!

Tommy

It's just a small microswitch. Not necessarily a common problem, but a problem, for sure.

Had that issue on my 2012 Turbo S cab. Recently took it to the dealer and they replaced the entire mechanism, under warranty. Haven't had any issues since.

I'm sure it's not a difficult fix and certainly one that any Porsche dealership will address. Just a bit annoyed to have this happen in a 150K+ vehicle. With the PMs I've received and what I can see here, I guess the dealer is correct in that it does happen fairly often.

Just tell service that you are having an intermittent binding of the passenger side window. Believe turboS.cab is correct as they seemed to know exactly what the issue was and that I wasn't the first one with that issue. So i also believe it is a common problem. Mine was in for 24 hours but I was also having exhaust and ecu changes performed.

That's the frustrating part.. it's sporadic, and at one point I thought the problem would go away.

Take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

It would happen on the back passenger window for me, first occasionally, then more often than not. Soon the passenger side window as well. Sometimes it did close all the way, but most of the time it wouldn't unless I held the button up.

The dealer said it's "not uncommon" and they fixed it under warranty. I'm willing to bet this becomes a common problem over time.
