Rear axle diff lock?

How can I tell if I have this on my 6spd TT? It's an 08. I called the dealership, and I'm not sure they're able to tell based on VIN. They hadn't heard of the option being offered on a TT, but I have read otherwise in the forums. Is there a simple way for me to check?

I think its option code I220. I dont know about the 997's but 964's and other Porsches used to have a sticker under the hood that showed the option codes installed. You may wanna look and see if yours has that.

Option code 220. Dealer can get the option list from the VIN.

I copied this from the 2008 Turbo Order Guide page 7. Code is 220. If your dealer says they can't find out if your car has it, I'd find a new dealer.

220 Axle-Differential Lock Rear Turbo Coupe $950
Turbo Cabriolet $950

If you would like a copy of the entire order guide, pm me with your email. I tried to attach it but it is a larger file than is allowed on 6speed.

I can think of a few easy ways to determine if you have a locking diff!

If you weren't in Chi-Town, I'd volunteer my services!

You probably already know this, but 220 was available only with the 6-speed. It is a box lots of people/dealers forget to check.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I called another dealership who was familiar with the option, gave them my VIN, and I don't have it.

How important is this really?

Not very important if you are not going to track the car.

Not very important with the electronics on the car, particularly for the street. This option does make the car more prone to off-throttle oversteer and as imcarnuts said not that important unless you are going to do a lot of track time.
