Exhaust removal on 997.2 Turbo
#16
IMO, the .2 is more difficult and time consuming than the .1, even though it's modular. We do it with bumper removed, but intercoolers intact. You will require the special wrenches like the ones pictured above or you will have a heck of a time fighting with it...the first time we tried with straight wrenches and ended up buying a set of the curved wrenches to get it off. Also, the 02 wires on the .2 are very short/tight and easily damaged - be careful with them...the .2 takes a little patience.

All I did with my o2 sensors is un plug them on the right and left side under hood behind tail light area ( pull air box out...just snaps out, no fasteners) and that gave me slack to lower exhaust down and carefully unscrew sensors from cats....if you pull wires all the way out it is difficult to get back in because the frame rail to engine is really tite and the plug on end of o2 wire is large...there are several clips holding wire snug on its route to engine compartment....need to get wire out of those clips to give yourself slack.....be patient! it was my first and all turned out perfect!

Soak the nuts/bolts wd40 or pb blaster for 1-2 days first. Good light, some cold beer and take your time. Those rt angle 13mm hand wrenches look good, I also like a shorty hand wratchet.

You can generally reach the o2 bungs after pulling off the exhaust tips with a long 22mm wrench on a .1.
Another way is to unplug them on the engine side, up near the motor mounts, then undo several retaining clips and drop the whole thing down.
