Any oil filters better than OEM? Where do you buy yours?

Hey guys, looking for a filter for my 2012 Turbo S' first oil change (coming up on 1,300 miles).

I have found surprisingly little information about 997.2 oil filters across the web, including on this forum. There don't even seem to be many online retailers of the OEM filter, and no information as to the quality of third-party filters. This is a big contrast to my Z4 M, and past cars 350Z and Supra Turbo, for which I usually chose a Mobil 1 synthetic fiber filter.

What do you guys use and where do you buy them? Thanks!

not oil but Ive seen some comparos on paper filters and the stock ones do very well. I would only use the OEM stuff because Porsche will jump on anything non OEM to decline a warranty issue should anything no matter how remote occur.

Great advice, thanks! Anyone have a preferred source for OEM filters? As for oil, I'm switching to the 5w-50 (on the approved list) for a bit more protection and weight appropriate for the warmer CA climate.

Mann oil filters work fine. $10.53 from Amazon. When you change oil and filter, cut the top and bottom off with a razor blade and the paper filter unfolds like an accordion. You can then do a visual inspection for metallic particles and whatever else has gotten trapped. If there's a lot of junk, it may be indicative of something much more serious going on in the motor and you can take preventive measures before really having a problem. Best,
