Anyone using Michelin Pilot Sport Cup for Weekly driving?

Hey Guys, I can't find the Mich Super Sports anywhere.... Was wondering if anyone is running on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup and is a daily driver?

Nick,
I doubt that those are tires you want to have on when its raining. I remember Cannga (I hope) writing that he was reaaaalllyyy careful when caught in the rain with these...

To risky. Go for Michelins Pilot Sports 2 if you cant find the PSS... or wait until you do...

I don't recommend the Cups in wet weather. I have driven them in the rain and in a straight line they are OK (if you don't hit standing water), but around corners they become very lively and if you hit any amount of water they will hydroplane. I definitely don't recommend them for daily use, in particular when you may get in a situation where you need to change direction quickly.

I have the Pilot Super Sports now and I am very impressed by them. I would not use them in the snow, but in the dry and rain they are absolutely awesome. When I last checked (a couple of months ago) tire rack had significant stock. The other tire you might want to consider is the Bridgestone RE11.

Good luck.

Wow, I just went through all my contacts and I couldn't find anything along those sizes. I found plenty 235 and 245 as well as 315 and 335. I will keep an eye out.

With 20 inch rims, you just shrunk your choices. I'd go PS2 over the Cups in Miami (or anywhere in FL).

Sorry about your problem. Have you tried other brands like Continental, Bridgestone, etc.? It beats changing the wheels.

Regarding R comps ("cup" tires) for wet roads: as much as I love these tires when it's dry, it is dangerous to use them in the rain, plain and simple.
Situations that require braking, or accelerating, in a curve (avoidance measures, etc.) will cause the tires to break traction easily and once you break traction, no amount of PSM will salvage the situation. Even in a straightline, it's dangerous when wet.

I did use them for one year as a daily driver - the stiff sidewall and stunning traction (at higher speed in curves) is addictive and very difficult to give up, and something anyone nutty about motorsports should try once in his lifetime IMHO, but I live in Southern Cal and it rains here only a few times a year in certain months. When it does, it's like driving on egg shells. I would sit like grandma with 2 hands on and chest right next to steering wheel.
One interesting observation: For whatever reason, my Pirelli R comps wore out evenly front and rear, as opposed to street tires which would wear out rear first almost twice as fast as front. Cup tires also seem to take an exponential leap in noise when they are near the end of their time.

TD997TT is infamous around these parts
MPSCs

In addition to the rain issue, I have had bad luck with these for street driving - three nail punctures in a single season (rendering all three tires unfit for the track). I imagine that the extra stickiness contributed to the problem.

I need new tires soon too and I need the same size as you in 20"s. I have thought about changing to Continentals extreme contacts.
