HELP! My GT2RS ICs don't fit in my 997.1tt
I've just had a phone call from my Porsche Dealer that the GT2RS ICs I purchased from Sonnen do not fit in my 997.1tt... I'm told the hoses are different diameters... I'm really confused because all the threads and blogs I have been able to find describing the upgrade all mention an OEM fit as far as mounting points and hoses... the only thing that should need modification is the upper duct as far as I understand...
The only reason for this that I can think of is that the part numbers that are often quoted are:
997.110.639.70 Left Intercooler
997.110.640.70 Right Intercooler
but the parts that turned up are:
997-110-639-71
997-110-640-71
Can anyone with experience give me some clues as to where to go from here??
Cheers,
drvik

^ Check with Speed21, he got the scoop from the shop that installed drvik's coolers. It sounds like there may have been a slight clip redesign and using the 997.1 clips with a layer of felt near the bayonets on the metal portion of the hoses worked fine.

Has anyone tried replacing the ducts with 997.2 ducts so there is no cutting/zip ties required? I'm interested in this topic, as I don't really like the idea of using a zip tie on a $150,000 car to hold intercooler parts... All the threads seem to tiptoe around that.

ECS tuning sells the kit with o rings and hoses. Maybe they are different.

Of course I had to pay for the 997.2 ducts, which weren't cheap....
p.s. GTRS and 997.2 coolers are the same, BUT the ducts are different so for the 997.1 the 997.2 ducts should be used.

You are making such a drama with the ic scoops... it just need a small trim and zip ties. It is so easy to do the install that anyone without mechanic skills can do it. The zip ties will hold the scoops even better than original mounts and no one will be able to see that it is there, unless you plan to drive around without the rear bumper.

You can even wrap your 997.2 ducts in carbon or gold that i don't care. It is your money. But will it flow and perform better than 997.1? Will others be able to see what you have done? Will it hold better the ducts than zip ties? The answer is simple: NO.
And to the ones that are worried about zip ties, i will tell you a secret: your expensive car already has a bunch of zip ties from factory.
Zip tie isn't a bad solution. It serves its propose pretty well: it is ridiculous light, don't rust and will hold any part for a life time without loosing the strenght.
My post is just to don't lead others to think that the best route is to pay more for new ducts. Sometimes the simplest and cheapest solution is as good or better than the expensive one.
