Oil for my new 997.2 Turbo S
What do you all recommend as the best oil grade? I think the manual says 0W40, but was considering 5W40 for better protection. Any opinions? (I live in GA where it's hardly ever freezing.). Also, was thinking of switching to Amsoil as I found on previous cars that it burns off less. Thanks!

5w40 offer no more protection than 0w40 in hot weather and it offers less in cold weather. the 40 number is the weight of the oil for hot weather so 0w40 and 5w40 is the same thing.
Mobile 1 5w50 if you can find it is A40 (Porsche Approved) oil weight. But for just street driving I'd just stay with 0w40.

Been running M1 0w-40 since new. Change every 6-8months.
No reason to run a 50-weight unless you track your car regularly.
