Just picked up my 997.2tt and have a question: are the led bars on the front bumper just for show? I've noticed that the DRL's are the circular lights below the led bars, and that only one bulb on the outer edge of the bar actually lights up with the low beam xenons; do the rest of the "led's" even light up?

Those are used basically as turn signals. There are a few companies that offer a daytime running light mod.

TechArt offers a DRL that sits below the turn signal, looks too aftermarket in my opinion.
SpeedArt offers the DRL but requires your original turn signals for this mod. I believe GMP offers them.

Vivid also offers their version of DRL too. I believe that is what most 6speeders who have this mod use. I do.

Since the SpeedArt utilizes your original lights it's basically as OEM as you can get, but the Vivid option (they look good but not quite OEM) is 1/2 the price and you keep your originals unmodded.

I thought .2 has DRL? Are you sure yours is .2?

 

The 997.2 turbo does not have LED DRLs like the 997.2 regular models.

 

Technically speaking, it does. The round DRLs use LEDs.

Wonder why Porsche uses the led bars in the front bumper for DRL's on the non turbo models, but uses the circluar light w/ a single led for the DRL's on the turbo?
