He found out about it himself during the PPI and the dealer tech that has serviced the car for 45k miles said it was nothing to worry about. That's why.

Oh, ok. Sure. What's a good one that will cover a 6yo car with that many miles?

Under 50k ? Wow sounds like a pretty good deal!
If in fact the owner is correct in saying he has never seen a drop of oil on the floor , I would say there should not be a worry . What would concern me is the fact if he had it serviced religiously , why has the leak not been adressed until now ?
The dealer tech tha has serviced the car for the last 45 k should have already adressed the issue IMO .
The leak definitely looks like it has been there for sometime and caked up from the road grime and/or dust . Like others my biggest concern would be if it were run low on oil . But again my thoughts are if he performed the oil changes regularly that should not be an issue.

Well, I bought the car today. I found out that it actually is under CPO warranty until just after the new year, so I will try to drive it often and keep an eye out for anything that may need attention.

That's awesome ! I hope you enjoy it !
I myself have been looking for a 996/997 turbo car . Of course I like the 997's best , but have not been able to man up and pay upper 60's to 70's for one . Would love to find on in the low 50k range !

Congrats! You got a great deal on a great car. You bought a CPO vehicle for under 50K and on a car that you know the full history on. You did good!
