Stick them in there something like this

You have to look at the light housing & then think about the best fit inside the enclosure with all the wires. Putting the resistors on the back & more towards the middle of the car works well.

Thumbs up Now put everything back together

Now carefully put the light back into it's enclosure on the car.
Notice I used masking tape to protect my paint.
Ensure the mounting bracket on the light catches the front car mount.
Before you tighten everything up with your T25 Torx & recheck your light again to make sure you didn't pull or disconnect a wire. Then you are finished
If you have another coffee you can move on & do the other side as well.
On my car I remember getting the right light warning light a few times, so I fixed both sides. NOW NO MORE WARNING LIGHTS FOR MY CAR

Thanks for all your work on this and the excellent documentation. What year and model is your car. I find it interesting that some cars have problems, some don't and they are identical. I have 2008 turbo, installed the lights almost 2 years ago using the supplied resistor box and have never had any issues. Thanks agian.

My car is a 2008 Turbo. Initially the lights seemed to work okay. I started getting some warning lights here & there, but inconsistent. Installed the lights initially without the Dectane supplied resistors & no problem. Eventually warning lights started coming, so put the supplied resistors in. This really didn't do anything. For some unknown reason the L side was the predominant warning light & this side would go out. I HAD NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT from Orange Tuning, so I decided to research & figure things out.

IS there a difference where the Depo/Dectane lights are bought from in regards to porblems afterwards? After reading all the posts; it seems most issues are from OT or ebay.....
Seems as if buying in the US at least would get you better support if needed, although you are paying more

I do not think so. Unless Depot is actually stamping their brand on known-defective lights or someone else is actually counterfeiting them, they're all likely going the same.

I was able to get my RR light replaced via my ebay vendor (fish) since I'd only had it like 8 months.

I do suspect that this is a flaw affecting a large amount of Depot lights, unless they have silently fixed a manufacturing flaw, it will probably happen to me again on my recently replaced light.

Thanks to this thread and the DIY fix posted here, I'll be prepared to fix it

Guess I'll be keeping my OEM tails around a while to swap back in should the problem come back.

Unless I really was lucky, if there was a manufacturing flaw fixed it has been recent since I've had mine since May 2011 with no issues.

Like I said, it is obviously affecting some amount of the lights and not all of them. There is obviously some sort of flaw, either inherent to the design or manufacturing process, which doesn't necessarily manifest itself consistently over time. My RL light has been perfectly fine and it'll have been in almost a year *knock on wood*

It seems that both the Rottecs and Depo's have issues; are they the same issue and how does the fix outlined above correct the problem? Just curious

Rottec and Depo/Dectane are completely different designs - Rottec (and DelRey Customs) use the original wiring harness with sockets while Depo/Dectane has its own harness already wired into the fixture. Somewhere there is a thread with multiple posts and pictures showing the difference. Only thing in common is that they are both LED's. Most of the issues have been with the Depo/Dectanes.

G-forceTarga4S,

excellent solution. thanks for the info and details.

Anyone thoughts on how we can make the brake light to work exactly like OEM 997.2 lights instead of half lit?

Thanks for the recognition ksdprasad. I was putting up this DIY fix it for Depo lights.
I don't know why others are going on about Rottecs, etc. Matt initiated this thread b/c of a problem with the Tail light going out.

I researched it, & came up with a solution. I don't know what the wiring on these lights is like & really don't care b/c I wanted a solution for this Dectane problem

It's a inexpensive way to correct a problem with lights that cost > $500 that would otherwise only be good for getting you pulled over by police b/c of a "tail light out"

The solution to your other question ksdprasad is get OEM 997.2 lights & the bumper upgrade from Suncoast. It will cost you alot more money or just spend ~ $50 & fix your lights.
