On the 997.1 turbo, is there an easy way to lock rear spoiler in up position? Maybe a fuse or something simple? Raise the wing
every start....seems to me with such repeated up/down use could lead to an expensive repair in time.

I haven't tried this myself, just installed many fixed wings, but my suggestion to try would be to raise it, leave it up and unplug it. Then purchase a fixed wing harness and code out the spoiler button.

I'm just not sure if the hydraulic pressure would bleed out over time and drop a little.

Alternatively, i came across this in the 997tt vendor classifieds ... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...group-buy.html

Where do you find the wire to unplug it. Under the dash or is it assessible at the rear of the car??

Well when i mean unplug it, i mean unplug the entire harness. (attaches to spoiler, fan, light and brake light on one end, goes down the right hydraulic lift arm and into right rear of engine bay by the 2 large round circular engine harness plugs) then replace harness with fixed wing harness (997-612-670-71) and visit dealer or someone with a PIWIS to disable the unit so it doesn't throw a malfunction every time it activates at 55 or 60 when it raises by itself.

The hydraulic units are prone to failure as you correctly stated in your original post.

Leaving the wing in the up position keeps the hydraulics under pressure. What are you going to do if it starts to leak and your car is out of warranty?

The wiring harness is located in the engine bay, passenger side, right under the side by the fender.

Although I haven't tried it, you should be able to deploy the spoiler, then use Durametric to deactivate the spoiler deploy/retract sensor. I think it should leave the spoiler up.

Appreciate your help on this. With what you are saying, this means big bucks at the porsche dealer with a $120/hr tech changing a costly harness.
I thought if I could find the wire to the pump, then just connect that. I guess no possibility for such a simple maneuver?? Hopefully this rear spoiler-pump has a reservoir of its own and doesn't share oil with other pumps etc like the power steering does with the clutch slave.
The stationary wing sounds like a good idea. Strange Porsche didn't design an up-stationary wing in the first place like its GT3 and not fool with pumps to raise/lower these wings 5-6 inches.

I have an extended EasyCare warranty that I am sure covers the wing hydraulics, but your point is well made, that keeping the wing up under press constantly is not too good. However, when activated-up by the dash switch, wing stays up overnight even when engine off and stays up until you start the car back up in the morning. If pressure is a potential problem, may be best to turn off and restart engine when turning the car off for the night. Anyone know charge for fixing a leaking wing pump??
