Best VTG Setup 997.1

Hi guys,

at the moment I have installed TechArt
T2 update vtgs.

What would you recommend as the
best vtg conversion on the market and why?

Is a pair of GT2 RS Turbos necessary
for a the biggest VTG conversion or not?

THX for your help
David

Once you have hybrid VTG's the only other option would be champion 68mm VTG's.

That's about it to be honest.

Other than that you will have to start thinking about garett GTX of tial alpha's!

Are there more detailed information about the
Champion stuff in the www? - because the hp is
Not online at the moment?

Thanks David

I did a forum search for you so you can have a look through all the threads.

Best person to speak to is Tom from champion motorsport.

Since you already have a modified VTG from a reputable company i would try to sell/trade them and get some extra cash. It shouldn't be to hard to do that in Germany.

The big question for me is:
Is the extra cost of the CMS 68mm VTG worth compared to the TPC/Protomotive 65mm VTG with extrude honed turbine housings?

The difference in price is huge and performance wise, with stock motor, there isn't too much information besides worthless dyno sheets.

KerCar did some amazing times with the 68mm VTG but there are some doubts about the amount of boost it was pushing. Champion says 1.56bar max but ESMOTOR says it was more.

Never talked with CMS about prices but from the prices listed in the web site the difference is a little over $2000

Hey Sir, what power goals are you looking for? There are a lot of options to squeeze more horsepower out of the VTGs if your open up your exhaust, get some good turbo inlet pipes and flowing intercoolers with a re-tune. Sometimes just tuning on the car can make it feel much more responsive and powerful.

Hi.

Well, the rest of the setup i am quit sure about and some stuff i already bought.

- "bigger"y-pipe with GT3 throttle valve : not sure if it is worth the money
- Airbox: original with BMC filter installed
- tubes down to the turbos: already have Tech Art carbon ducts
- exhaust: Europipe i think
- intercoolers: Confused which one to buy, because i think it is quite tricky to buy the right
ones. Intercoolers are really critical i think, you could buy easily wrong ones.
- water injection: ESMOTOR
- VTG: Thats the question :-)

Intercoolers from champion the best, I think, ITMO
How much ESMotor ask for water injection kit?

These are the best intercoolers.

Why do you need water injection?

Are those just the most expensive ones on the planet or are they really efficient? To pay 6000€ without any real measurement comparison sheet
feels quit hard for me. How did you know that those are the best? -THX!

Water injektion to cool down again the intake temperature, maybe mixed with a second mapping via a switched eprom. But i know, in germany it is not really necessary due to "Aral102" we have here.

Go for the upgraded VTGs many companies offer them and they can just about push enough horsepower to the limits of the motor on good fuel. I don't see why you need water injections if you have upgraded intercoolers. Make sure you get a good tuner for the ECU. Its allllll in the tuning.

if you are in Germany is easy to found many companies with modified VTG...Ruf ,from what i know in RT12 use VTG with 49mm inducer and 66mm exducer...generally depence what you want from you car...some tuner in Germany, just they deactivated the vanes from VTG,run open all the time like a big turbo...but if you car has still stock internal my advice is to stick with VTG...IMO
