I had the Mod Red interior in my C5z, too.

Your 997 seats look nice with those alcantara centers. That's going to be an awesome car.

Thanks man. The seats are OEM GT2 Carbon with alcantera inserts. Mod red in the C5Z was the ****. I had mod red in my 99frc and my wifes 03 Z06. My C6Z interior was actually a full Ron Fellows conversion. The red was not quite as vivid as mod red. Oasis C&C this Sunday? Prob take my wifes 5.0...

I plan on going. I hate to wish away rain from Austin but forecast is calling for thunderstorms. Hopefully the morning will be clear. At least it won't be chilly like last month. Probably gonna bring the M3 this time but might bring both cars.

On topic with the thread: Have any of you guys who say the feeling of the 997 is much better/lighter than the 996 driven both gens with similar set up aftermarket suspensions? For example, properly set up PSS10's on both? Does that narrow the gap or does the 997 remain much better in feeling because of some other inherent qualities? The 997 is still a few years out of my budget but it would be nice to know if I could get the same feel by doing the coilovers I want to do anyway.

I'm still quite intrigued by the steering feedback comments too. Having only had 996TT experience I find the steering is quite to my liking, but constantly read threads about how the GT2 steering is on another level. I have driven a GT3 before and did enjoy that, so it's probably quite similar...but I'd love to know how the 997TT fits into that pecking order.

What goes around always comes around. This debate will repeat itself the moment 991TT comes out. And then the 997TT will become the underdog. I just don't get it; are the interior/exterior changes and slight real-world performance advantages really a basis on which Porsche cars are judged upon? Sad indeed... the Porsche ownership has definitelly entered a new era!

You don't think the 997TT offers real performance and useability enhancements over the 996TT? Of course many enthusiasts will be drawn to lower mileage cars with newer features...how is that a negative?

Like you said, it will be a similar process with the 991TT comes out, as it always is for any new models that replace previous ones. According to your logic we should all drive 1976 930 Turbos then?

You completely misunderstood my post. I won't get dragged into another 996tt versus 997tt debate. It's been done to death.

I just know that I bought my car for much less money than you (including the tune) and is now faster and handles better than most 997tts making your initial performance stock for stock advancements obsolete.

The only thing "wrong" with the 930 turbo is that you couldn't drive it and that Walter Rorhl would spank your ar#e driving one against you piloting your superior 997tt.

The 991tt story will be the same. In the real world there won't be much in it but the new owners will be quick to point out how dated and how inferior the 997tt is. We can continue this debate then.

Terminator,

I don't own a 997TT, but I'm considering purchasing one. I have a slightly modified 996TT that I've owned for 4 years and counting, and I've enjoyed every mile with it. Anyway, happy to continue the fun debate later. Best wishes!
