Trading '07 turbo for new GTR, pros/cons
Big decision: For $15K, can switch out my '07 (55K miles-orig owner) for a new GTR. GTR is fast but has PDK like trans
, whereas my baby has a 6-speed. GTR rides much stiffer and feels a lot heavier. Much different driving experience with engine up front. Need some thoughts on the switch??
Only way to get the same PDK 'turbo S' power in Porsche is at twice the price which to me is not worth the extra $80K. Good grief, could get two GTRs for the price of turbo S. And too Nissan has offered me a much higher trade in than the Porsche folks.

Check out the new corvette stingray. I find the gtr very heavy, sedan-ish looking.
Perhaps something more mundane like a cayenne as a DD and a classic porsche as a toy (964t 3.6 for ex)?

Years ago, once you launch that GTR once, your warranty is void.
Happened to me and then got rid of the car in a heartbeat, that tells me the manufacture is not standing behind their car. Also the playstationish techy look got old to me within a month.
Still a cool car!

Tough decision here in a sense that for 15k you will have a brand new car. My feeling is if you buy the gtr, you will eventually be back in a Porsche. The gtr is an awesome car but doesn't have that finish like the Porsche in my opinion. I drove a family members 2009 so maybe changes have been made to the newer models.
If you are looking to get rid of your car because the mileage/value, the gtr could be a short term buy and then traded for a 991tt.
Best of luck.

ill add my 2 cents here not that it matters
I own a GTR.. (Fully built) and my brother has a 997 turbo 6 speed, so i drive both very often
My gtr, was never stock, from the day i bought it it made 650wheel so not a great comparison. Porsche was stock when we got it
Porsche is by far more fun to drive with the 6 speed. Feels like a go-kart compared to the gtr.
The GTR is effortless to drive and constantly needs alot of power to give you a thrill. (hence why my gtr make WELL over 1k wheel now and run 8s in the 1/4) It does all this with retaining stock driveability. The 997 now makes 650wheel but needs alil bit of aq heavy clutch to do so IMO.. Not bad at all just a point.
Performance wise, a gtr will def be much better then what you currently have. Add a tune to it and its game over
both great cars...the 997 will give you more of a thrill.. GTR is a great car and does it effortlessly

that is 5 year old information that has long since been resolved

But that doesn't stop misinformation and rumors...
My recommendation - keep the Turbo. Wait until 991 Turbo release.

Correct...You can launch the **** out of the car now with the new LC software and no problems
