Also curious.

I have a 2002 NA 996 and looking for a nice fit cooler kit for the tiptronic transmission. Came across several posts which mention that ESMOTOR has a ready made cooler kit with a scoop. Curious to know if the kit ESMOTOR provided is still available and fits a normal 996.

I already have sent an e-mail to Emre and a PM via this forum. So far no reaction. No idea if he still reads this thread.

997.1 with a Tip

My second gear is slipping, I have about 20k from tracking car.

Car makes about ~600 hp

Would like crisper shifts but still comfortable for My daily driver. Not drag racing. I think gear is gone from down shifting on Watkins Glen and other track. The car is located in Northern VA.

Any advice thanks
Bruno

Find a shop that specializes in Mercedes kompressor, and turbo 65 transmission performance builds and send it to them. The 722.6 has an internal temp sending unit, so the trans temp is typically higher than the engine temp, and will probably climb well above 200 f with light spirited driving. If you get a large enough air to liquid cooler, you could disable the liquid to water factory cooler and rely directly in this. Placement of the cooler is the problem, if it is in front of the center radiator, the engine may get hotter. I totally separated my trans circuit, and using the stock heat exchanger on the trans and another radiator in front of the center radiator along with an intercooler pump I keep transmission temps below 55c (around 125f) over 30 mph with normal driving.

You may also add an air to liquid cooler in conjunction, but after the factory water to liquid cooler, so the trans is initially cooled by the engine coolant, and then travels to the air cooler for further cooling. Again placement of the cooler is the issue, and bigger is definately better. Regardless heat is the killer of the auto trans, keep it cool and keep it alive.

Hi Emre,

Thanks for your feedback. Given the condition you still sell the cooler kit I am willing to give it a try to fit it on the 996 tiptronic.

You can send me a PM if you want.

Kind regards,

The 996 tiptronic transmission in my NA 996 is the 722.6 from Mercedes. It seems the 996tt and 997tt tiptronics do not differ too much with respect to physical lay out and cooling. I checked and all of them use stock the same liquid/oil cooler. Most probably the cooler kit will fit too under my car. As stated before i am willing to give it a try provided that you still have them for sale.
