PDK only for '14 GT3

MT claims GT3 for 2014 has only pdk. Seems like 'performance trumps purity.' Comes with rear-wheel steering, computer-controlled rear diff with torque vectoring, <3.5 sec 0-60, redline 9000rpm and base price of only $131350. Understand GT3 can be ordered w/o rear spoiler, available fall '13. Suspect new turbo too will come only with pdk....such a shame.

there's a reason why the factory of legendary cars decided to go away with manual tranny; durability, faster, and less expensive to maintain. It could be as engaging as a manual if the owner educates himself on how to use it properly. Seen one driven on a circuit with a pro driver and that was an eye opener it really does work as a manual. Like any other i'm skeptical about the auto tranny but we have to adjust to technology as there's no human alive that can shift faster than the PDK.

PDK is a requirement now to win 0-60 wars, which yes, even the GT3 has to compete in as there are people that cross-shop the GTR with Porsches. It's also going to net quicker laps - probably worth oodles of time at the 'Ring.

I've been telling my car enthusiast friends this is where we were headed a long time ago... none of them believed their beloved Porsches would soon lose their MTs

Maybe Turbo will have the manual. Like Cayenne.
Only real deal performance race cars do not get the manual.

I'm with you Tom, but where do you go after the 997.1 TT??

- F430 is the last Ferrari that you can get with a 6-speed
- Gallardo is the last 6-speed lambo, and hard to find one with a manual configuration
- BMW M car or Aston? assuming they continue to offer manuals they are a different car vs 911 TT, F430 and Lambo
- The rest of the super cars are out of reach for me

I may just keep the Turbo for a long while and see if I can add a F430 6spd down the road as prices creep into my range. or maybe I go back and add a Bakcdraft or Superformance Cobra.

Damn I should have kept this in the stable!

427 V8: 550 HP 560 ft-lbs
2300 lbs

Honestly these get as much if not more attention than a ferrari or lambo and you could argue they are more fun to drive for some of us than a sequential dual clutch auto-manual

will need to play the angles with the wife to get one back in the garage next to the TT

Wow - I never thought I'd see a day when GT3 is available in PDK only. What's next GT2? Viper? Could this mean my 6 speed will hold its value

I have no idea really where to go but I will never own a sports car without a thrid pedal.

Get that bad boy back in the garage that looked like a lot of fun.

Does it have to be a superluxury car with 100500 horsepowers?

If you want horsepowers and crazy acceleration, then robotized luxury superhorsepower car is anyway the way to go.

If you are interested in interaction and manual shifting per se, then there are still Cayman S, Lotus, Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW 1M (ok, used) and other BMWs, etc.

GT2 will most likely come with PDK.
Viper? I doubt. It really looks like US manufacturers will be the only ones offering honest manual performance cars in the future. In Europe noone wants a manual, heck, M5 does not come with manual in Europe, only in US! Youngsters just want a fast car, they do not care if computers do all the work for them, they will love GT3 with its robots and all kind of electronic gizmos. Older guys just want to relax, they take robots for convenience.
Anyway, GT3 is road car, not true track car, I mean, come on, it has 20" wheels and there is no choice of other sizes from the factory!

997.1T manual will not keep its value. 1. Too many made; 2. See the above paragraph.

Maybe Turbo will get 7-speed manual, but that box was not getting very good reviews, from what I've read. The tried and true 6-speed is gone for sure.

Guess I will be holding on to my MT for now. I guess next up will be the CGT. Once I get that in my stable then I may venture away and dabble with the 2 pedel/paddle shifter vehicles out there.
