Cracked CF Center Console

Has this happened to anyone? Just noticed that my CF center console cracked near the ashtray. It just split for no reason. Will Porsche replace this if the car isn't under warranty?

Not sure how they do things in your country, but I have the full CF package in mine and twice during the warranty period the defroster trim ( CF) peeled up. They are 900 per side. They replaced.

Of course after my factory warranty expired it did it again. So I called Porsche NA and they told me to contact my local dealer and they have what are called goodwill dollars to use for these situations. It is based on many factors e.g. did you buy your car there, service etc. Well the GM called me and said they would pay for 90% of the replacement based on my "score" So it cost me 40 dollars or so.

Perhaps you have the same.

Good luck.

If it is just a crack in the clearcoat, you could also repair it pretty easily at home - just need some epoxy-resin. The trim isn't load-bearing, so no need for fancy stuff either - just mask the area and brush some into the crack - make sure it is a clear-drying variety though!

Porsche doesn't do a very good job with carbon - if you can't get warranty coverage, consider swapping it from carbon to leather:

Mine has the same thing, fixing it under warranty. I don't think I would ever order it on a car in the future.

I will definitely go with the leather console with red trim whichever way this plays out. I'll tell the dealer I'm willing to compromise and get a less expensive replacement if they pay for it.
