BMC Air Filter

Just installed a new BMC air filter in the TTS. In Sports Plus mode the car literally feels like it is leaping into the next gear. This car continues to blows me away. The BMC air filter coupled with the Akrapovic exhaust I have provide as much additional air to the beast I can think of.

I think that particular exhaust is a good choice on the tts. The factory agreed!

Well it's not the filter causing your "leap" - it's Sports Plus. Filter adds negligible power (if any), certainly not any that you could feel.

No doubt...but for some reason it just felt different today. My imagination I'm sure.

+1.

I did some comparison runs with the PBox and it showed no gain on 60-130mph or 100-200kph.

i could *hear* the difference when running a bmc. that would easily translate into the easily arrived at and possibly misguided notion that we might somehow be "faster/quicker". i got rid of it. dirty.

Why would you "get rid of it"? Its still a good filter and washable is a good thing.
Im glad this thread popped up....I was thinking of a BMC filter. Anyone feel it might be a useful addition to an EVT775 set up?

EVT775. The "kit" doesnt show or mention a washable filter of any kind. I can only assume there was no need for one.

Installed the BMC Air Filter some months ago. I did that because the oem sound is only painful. I guess most install the BMC to generate a better sound and the psychological effect is there. I enjoyed it.
However after one week of better sound the check engine light came up, because the the air flow meters needed to be renewed. Lucky me I have the approved and Porsche changed it without any argumentation.
For me it was not worth it, from now on I will only make changes after the cylinder-heads to get a better sound.

because after a few years of running porsche turbo's with the mahle vs the bmc.. i've cleaned it enough to make me feel the filter isn't capturing *enough* of the kind of soot/grime and whatever else might get into my precious mezger engine. also, that it just wasn't worth the *perception* i might be some how a millisecond "faster". i did however, prefer the sound of the intake and spool with it, over stock. still. not a value added *trade off* .. in my uneducated opinion.

my next anticipated change in that dept will be to get rid of the airbox altogether.
