HKS EVC6 wiring question!

Hi Speeders!

My Alpha kit is bolted now, the car only ran at idle for now and it stays one thing to do:
Connecting the rpm signal from the ECU to the HKS EBC, does someone know which pin?
For now we connected the C46 and the HKS shows 14000rpm at idle!

Thxs for your help!

P.

Since you are running it off the coil trigger signal for a single cylinder, you'll have to set the number of cylinders to 1 in the setup. Problem is the EVC has some trouble reading a clean signal for RPM at full load..

Thxs Dave,
We set the number of cylinder to 6...
Do you mean the rpm input with the HKS isn't the way to go to control the boost with?

It hasn't worked to well for RPM based boost because the signal isn't square wave and maxes rpms out at 14000 with a lot of load on the motor, but it works great for a fixed boost control. If you're going to use it for RPM based boost, you'll need to find a way to emulate an old fashion square wave tach signal from the canbus with an adapter.

Really?
A Profec should be enough so, if only a fixed boost value is usable with my hks on the 997TT without electronic mods...

Hi,

today I have finshed my boost controller installation (HKS EVC 6) and I also have installed a CAN bus converter in order to get a cleaner RPM signal. I can't test today, but the LED of the module shows it locked to the bus correctly and "knows" the car. Tomorrow I will see if the RPM signal is ok.

I could need some help in order to save some time. Connector 3 of the ECU has 2 throttle position sensor lines (Pin 8 = sensor 2, Pin 24 = sensor 1). In understand one is the pedal value and the other one the throttle plate value.

Which one is the throttle plate value? I like to have that input for the boost controller.

I just see that the reply went to the 997 forum. My car is a 2002 996. Shouldn't make a difference.

Nice idea. Did you have any problems with the rpm signal on high loads / top end?

Did you also use the throttle plate signal and if so, where did you connect the wire to?

RPM reading is 100% accurate from idle to redline.i never used throttle signal, the only wire i hooked to the ecu is the RPM signal.

Thank you That's the camshaft sensor 1. I will give it a try or even compare to my CAN bus solution.

I will measure the cables to the throttle body and see which pin on the ECU to use for that feature.

Connector III pin 24 (yellow/white) is the signal to use for the throttle signaling. It goes from about 0.7 V to about 4.4 V.

Pin 8 is doing the opposite: it reads 4.4 V with no throttle and goes down to 0.7 V on full throttle.

My CAN bus signal is working, but the signal is not stable enough. I will try your suggestion now.
