Opticoat feedback

Had the same question, also had a conern regarding future adhesion of wheel counterbalancing weights.
Agreed Bob is a paint genius, and a great guy as well.
I have had Opticoat on my sons Subaru paint and wheels a d my wife's MDX for the last year. This is a super durable coating that cleans up easily. Whoever said it is garbage is not in the industry. You may prefer something else but the Opticoat fits a need for a super durable , easy to clean coating. I clean the opticoated wheels with plain car wash soap. I have also used GTech EXO v1. The difference is EXO is slicker feeling and tighter beading but nowhere as near mar and scratch resistant. There is a v2 EXO that addresses some of this I am told but have never used myself.
Bob knows his stuff. One of the top guys in the detailing business. He did not lead you wrong.

Opti Coat will not affect the weights from sticking the wheel.
I've done a few sets of wheels:

I am a bit of a detailing geek and here is what I know. GTECH EXO is the most hydrophobic coating I have ever seen. The V1 has been on my Pcar for over a year. That car sees little mileage and looks great. My daily Driver has EXO v2 and has had 20K put on the clock. The coating has been on 9 months, this car sits outside 24x7 and looks great and beads great. I am in love with this stuff.
I opti-coated my wifes car and my sons. Opticoat is very durable, does not mar easily but also does not bead as well. If you are after protection it s clear winner.
Both coatings make washing very easy.
I want to try either GTECH C1 or Cquartz on a truck I keep for really bad weather. I will report back.
If you wash your own car EXO is awesome, if you have a black car or don't wash your own car, go Opticoat for longer lasting results IMHO.
