The Ultimate GIAC/Champion Motorsport 68mm VTG Upgrade Thread!

Good stuff! I didn't see the 5bar FPR in the list of mods, was that used on the car?
Sure would like to see some pbox numbers for these bad boy 68s! I know, I sound like a broken record.

This is very interesting...
My car is a daily driver, and as odd as this will sound (every one - please hold back your laughter), with the upgrades you mention (if NOT in sport mode), what kind of millage would you expect out of this setup? Any change over stock?
As it stands now, with a heavy foot and in sport mode I get roughly 10mpg in the city (tuned with TechArt odds and ends).
Also how much are you guys charging for your 68mm VTG's?

Haha - seriously... my meter is sitting at 20.8L/100km right now. Just city driving though, haven't touched a highway since reset, and not heavy footed. I know, it's ridiculous.
I've reset it a number of times to be sure it's correct.
Could also be the route I take which is around 25 min from my residence to work with two small hills, and around 14 stop starts (traffic lights).
...hence I'm curious what these tunes average out at?

i need to pull the trigger SOON on turbo's. i am so confused as to what i want , and what best suits my driving.
i have gt2 gears and i realllly want to enjo a somewhat wide powerband... with my current vtg's, i can mash the throttle at 3k and i'll have torque...
im being talked out of a28's because they arent much biggger than vtg's...
i was set on 3076's, but im afraid they will be too laggy , especially on pump.
i wanted to try the FRP turbos but i havent been able to get any info on them.
im looking for a sub 5 second 60-130... torque down low, and power til 6500.
i am looking for a turbo with internal wastegates. plug and play. the car is street car daily driver !
can we get some videos and 60-130s ?

That's not easy. Just look at the list https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...le-thread.html
The 68 VTG record is 5.50s with GIAC race file
I'm close to that with A3071 on pump + meth. Should be a bit faster with race fuel and a race map but I don't think I will ever be sub 5 on stock engine with this turbos.

i already purchased a gt3 oil pump that im putting in the motor, and i will be doing carillo rods. im NOT looking for a turbo that makes no power until 5k rpm.
im not downshifting bro's ! not downshifting.

Please contact Tom@Champion regarding the turbos for your vehicle.

The dyno before the injector upgrade was utilizing the 4 bar FPR. With the injector upgrade, we also recommend utilizing the 4 bar FPR. With that being said, you can squeeze a bit more power out of the stock injector setup by upgrading to a 5 bar.

We'll be updating this thread as we finish up a few built motor 68mm cars. This will give you a better idea if this setup will suit your goals.

thanks Thomas.
i have been giving serious thought to just getting gt2 rs turbos and calling it a day.
i raced a brand new gtr last weekend. stock turbos stock exhaust, just a chip.
we did several sprints from about 60-120/130. i was in 4th the entire time and didnt lose ground (i didnt make ground either)..

lol
I like my upgraded vtgs b/c most of the time I don't even downshift from 5th. Still pulls fairly hard for those short bursts. I'm with you, I'm also interested in maintaining a broad powerband as priority one.
Sub 5s 60-130 is gonna be difficult without getting into "bigger" turbos and boost controllers etc......
