Cobb Tuning releasing AccessPort ECU Tuning device for 997.1 Turbo


We are excited to announce Cobb Tuning has released an AccessPort for the 997.1 Turbo (2007-2009) and 997.1 GT2 (2008-2009) applications. If you are familiar with Cobb Tuning, you will know they have been a staple in providing rock solid ECU Tuning solutions for quite some time, and have the biggest market share in the Nissan GTR Factory ECU tuning.

With a lot of tunes out on the market, it can be hard to pick the right one for you particular application. With Cobb Tuning’s new AccessPort for the 997.1 TT, their product will help bring more customization options forth to the user that sets it apart from the other options available. From OTS (Off The Shelf) performance calibrations, to custom calibrations we can personally tune for you, advanced datalogging capabilities, map switching, to custom code features, these are some of the features the Cobb AccessPort for the Porsche 997 Turbo will have.

With that being said, many of you may not know who we are just yet, so I’d like to take a quick second to introduce myself. Although I am new to the forum, I am not new to Porsche Tuning, and tuning in general. I’ve been fortunate enough in the past few years to have worked with some amazing Porsche vehicles. My company, Mase Engineering, has tuned everything from stock Boxsters/Caymans/Cayennes/996/997 911 street cars on up to Cayman Race Cars, GT3 Cup Cars, and even a Porsche Powered Daytona Prototype. I have worked several years as an engineer and calibrator within the Grand-Am road race series (now IMSA Sanctioned), Pirelli World Challenge series, and do a tremendous amount of club track day supporting/tuning within SCCA, NASA, PCA, HSR, etc. I consider forced induction my forte, and excited to bring forth greater developments in the 997 turbo platform.

Finally you guys are into this platform! It's good to see more people than FVD and Softronic over here. Hopefully Ecutek will follow you guys then there will be the software arms race that happened in the GTR market.

The Cobb guys are top knotch. It's my opinion that they are way ahead of the competition. I don't even own a 997TT anymore and I'm excited to see where they take this.

Ive been a loyal Cobb customer for many years in the evo world. When I got my 997t, they told me this was under development but had no release timeline. Glad to see its finally out, unfortunately proto already took care of all my needs. But top notch tuning system.

BBi ran two 997 Turbos over the weekend that were tuned off the COBB module. They posted results on their FB + Instagram, but here it is. One ran their B65E Package (Stock Turbos, E85 Conversion), here's a slip and picture of that:



And here's the other one, with their B7 Package (Guessing Stock Turbos/Exhaust, No Mention of E85)



Currently there is only 997.1 support (Turbo + GT2), but they have mentioned on their FB that they're looking into the 996 Turbo/GT2 and the 997.2 Turbo/Turbo S.

Great news for Porsche community. I've used Cobb in my GT-R. Very convenient and perfect solution for datalogging and e-tuning. The listed price, though, is significantly more than the Cobb-006 w/TCM for GT-R and even higher than Cobb-005 w/o TCM for GT-R, but I suppose it's in line with what others charge.

The white car has upgraded turbos but the trap speed is not indicative of it's capability. It suffered from throttle closure at 136mph about 50-100 yards before the finish line and fell on it's face....that's why it has an 1/8th MPH speed of 109 and a terminal 1/4 mile trap of only 129. If it ran all the way to the finish, it would have trapped 137-138 easy.

Cobb is expensive for what it is. There are other solutions out there. Quite a few of the GTR guys are now switching to other solutions.

Also noted that their device for the Nissan GTR is $950 - $1350 from their website, but the Porsche 997 TT version of the same device is $2500?? Have they learned of the Porsche Tax that quickly ? Wonder what goes in to a device for our cars that costs 2-3 times more than the ones for GTR?

Well...At any rate, as I mentioned in the other thread (that was deleted), this device seems a bit risky...but sounds like many are excited about it, so I will be watching in interest to see where this goes....Hopefully won't see a bunch of Crispy 997 TT's on the side of the road.....

Good luck to those who do their own tuning/tweaking.

Exactly, I was looking at LED tail lights the other day on EBAY. VW, Honda Toyota, Bmw etc. etc. were around $250-400......Porsche 997 turbo.....$600-900 and they were made by the same company. Another example of companies charging more simply because its a Porsche turbo.

Yeah!...But you are overlooking how hard it is to shape the plastic to fit the complicated curves of a Porsche tailight ....

You have all of these simple shapes like in picture 1....and the super complex Porsche light in picture 2....

Hope my subtle sarcasm is picked up here
