COBB Announces Porsche 911 Turbo Support
As many of you may already know, COBB is now offering Accessport and Accesstuner support for the 997.1 Turbo and GT2. We would like to take a moment to formally introduce our product and it’s capabilities.
Let’s start with the Accessport. Our current support covers the 997.1 Turbo and GT2 with additional 997.2 Turbo support coming soon. We’re continuing to investigate 991 Turbo support along with expanding to various other models within the Porsche lineup. As part of a special release program, the Porsche Accessports are available exclusively through our Certified Porsche Protuners. The purpose behind this is to ensure our earliest customers are working with performance tuning facilities that we know are familiar with the vehicles and are able to provide the highest levels of customer service that the COBB experience is synonymous with. This collaboration also allows us to gather the various Porsche ECU ROM files as quickly as possible to further expand Accessport support. The special release program has proven to be an invaluable tool and we are happy to announce the release of the Porsche Accessport to all COBB Authorized Dealers and the COBB Website is coming very soon!
Accessport Features:
Simple Installation: Everything is included for the simple installation you can do in your driveway! Intuitive on-screen instructions identify your exact vehicle, saves stock vehicle data, and displays available OTS maps.
Change Maps: Store up to 100 maps from our OTS map database or from your favorite COBB tuner and quickly switch between them for any need.
Vehicle Upgrade Support: As you continue to modify your car, Accessport maps can be used to optimize performance upgrades. Changing the map can be done in less than 1 minute in your driveway.
In Car Mount: The Accessport can be mounted in vehicle to allow you to monitor the performance data.
Data Logging: Record multiple data channels simultaneously for in-depth evaluation of engine performance. Stores up to 1 hour of continuous data.
Gauges: Use your Accessport as a gauge to monitor boost or any other live information, directly from the ECU.
Trouble Codes: Read engine trouble codes to diagnose issues. Clear them when resolved. Prevent expensive trips to the dealership.
Full Uninstall: Using the Uninstall option will completely remove our programming from the car’s ECU. It is then able to be re-installed after a dealer visit or on another vehicle.
The Accessport connects to your vehicles OBDII port and is able to reprogram the factory ECU with a performance calibration file. During the installation process, the Accessport will identify and save the factory data from the vehicles ECU. That information remains stored on the Accessport and can also be backed-up on your computer using our Accessport Manager software. Should you ever need to return your vehicle to stock , it’s as simple as completing the Uninstall function with the Accessport. After the vehicle is identified, you will choose a calibration file that is applicable to your vehicle and modification level. We will offer an assortment of Off The Shelf (OTS) maps that will be preloaded onto the Accessport. You can also choose to have your car custom tuned by a Protuner who will use our Accesstuner Pro software.
COBB OTS Maps :
Stage 1 maps are calibrated to be used on a completely stock vehicle but still provide a significant increase in performance.
Stage 2 maps are to be used with an upgraded exhaust. We recommend using the stock airbox and upgraded intercoolers at this level.
Stage 3 maps will support our COBB 1000cc injectors on cars that are using E85.
Non-Performance:
Valet Mode
Anti-theft Mode
Installed Stock Mode
We are continuously working to refine and perfect our tunes, those updates will be available to customers at no charge.

It is not out of the question to do 996tt, just for now we started with the 997tt.
We shall see what happens, but I really hope that we do 996tt in the future.

If you had another tuners "tune" on the car already, could you save that to the AP to retain that tune but still have access to the other AP features?

Quick question for Cobb:
While I like the Accessport device etc., do I need to keep it in the car after the map has been uploaded?
in other words: I like to keep my car clutter free. Can I upload the map and store the handheld or does it need to remain connected in order to get the benefit of the map?
I apologize if this is a dumb question, but all the info I have found so far, shows the device in place while driving so I wanted to make sure.

I have one for my STI and after changing maps I disconnect it and it stays in my glove compartment. But sometimes I just put it back in the AP Box and keep it in my garage. It does not need to remain connected.

Cobb, are those dyno graphs from a mustang dyno?
Also,
you mention:
"OTS maps unlocked – anyone can view"
Which software do we load the maps onto to view? Your software? or will it work with TunerPro for instance?

Yup from a Mustang dyno.
They are unlocked in Access Tuner Pro, so our software. Hope this helps.

What I would like to see is a Cobb AP "el cheapo", ie just a premium datalogger for 996 turbos. AP seems to be the only available unit to have the capability to log individual cylinder ignition retardation, but I really do not need that tuning stuff...

If you are talking in terms of software, yes we will release AccessTuner Race which has all of the features of our Protuning software, but will be locked to your car.
It will not be free, but will give you the ability to tune your own car!

Ok Mitch... I'm sold. I need to talk to you about some things (related and somewhat related) at some point.
