On Saturday I picked up a mint 997TT and drove it home for 500 miles. As nice of a car it is, it was just too slow. I contacted Tony @ EPL who has tuned my 996TT previously for several years up until about 900whp which is when I went with a ProEFI standalone. He is the man for stock Porsche ECU tuning.

Fast forward 3 days later, my car is on the dyno at Undercover in NJ which is the same model Mustang 500 AWD dyno EPL uses in house. Bone stock the car made 390whp/390wtq peal which is healthy and is expected from a low mile, well maintained car.

With ONLY an EPL ECU flash and no other mods it picked up over 80whp and 80wtq in mid range and 60whp/60wtq peak. This is without letting the car adapt or anything, flashed it right on the dyno. Did 2 stock pulls, took 10 minutes to flash, did 2 tuned pulls. Its been a while since I have used a flash loader but its still just as easy as it was when I did my 996TT. I am very happy with the results, as expected from EPL, car drives like stock and rips for having no other mods.

Impressive results, I must admit I'm surprised at the stock HP number at the wheels. Parastic loses of 90 HP seems high, even though it's an AWD drivetrain....

Yeah that's how Mustang dynos go. Doesn't bother me because I'm used it now, but first time I dynoed on one it was a bit of a party pooper. My yellow car makes 120-140whp more on a dynojet than it does on this Mustang. Problem I that dynojet doesn't have linked rollers which are needed to dyno a Porsche without destroying the front drive.

Mine is the opposite ... Red 996TT and Yellow 997TT.


Might be getting the EPL treatment pretty soon the second time around.

It took 6 months to my 997 to "kill" my tuned 993TT, but the level was pretty low vs Splbus...

Yes tony does good work, didn't he used to run PES?
The mustang dyno is very similar to the dyno dynamics, 385-390 is about right bone stock.
A 60-80 hp pickup is impressive!

Two Mezger Turbos = Drool.... Guessing the 997 is a 6MT also. All you need now is a Air Cooled, Rauh Welt to complete the Pcar collection

Two for now. Neighbors "love" me. Yeah 6MT is the only way for me, otherwise I woulda gone for the PDK and the .2

I was also impressed with the fact that the new flash has built in boost off the line launch control which was not avaialble back when I had EPL last time. Glad to see Tony adding new features and cant wait to try it out.

Congrats on "upgrading" to a 997tt. It must feel soooo slow compared to your previous beast. I suspect it won't stay that way for long. Just curious what made you to decide to go this route? Are you keeping the spoolbus?

it was dissapontingly slow - stock. its much quicker with the tune but even with that , IT NEEDS MORE POWER. another 200-300whp would do it
