My 2008 Turbo Cab Tip has been plagued by the instrument cluster going completely dark for the third time in about a year. The entire instrument cluster is dark, and the radio will not power. The car runs ok, the headlights and turns signals work.

1st Time: Battery and alternator replaced. Problem fixed.
2nd Time: Front control unit replaced. Problem fixed.
3rd Time: ???

Any thoughts regarding how to diagnose and how to fix?

The electrical gremlins on my car are driving me crazy.

Have not heard of or seen this issue..and perhaps a long shot....But as I see what you did the last two times to fix it...each time the battery was disconnected and reconnected.

As a simple quick "test". I would try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and see if it clears up. If so, my guess is it is resetting some module, and that is likely where the issue lies.

While it does not solve your problem totally, it at least begins to isolate possible causes.
Assuming you are getting no error codes? That would be another primary item to look at too.

I kow these cars also have issues with the ground strap...so may want to at least rule that out as well...by checking, cleaning, or replacing if needed.
