Aftermarket exhaust for Porshce 997.2 Turbo

Aftermarket exhaust for Porshce 997.2 Turbo

I am interested to hear the sound of a loud exhaust in Orange County area to help me determine which exhaust will work best for my car. I tried the Techart without cats but was not impressed and returned it. I am curious now about Sharkwerks straight pipes (with cats), Cargraphic, Tubi with 200 Cel cats.
I appreciate anyone who has any other great sounding exhaust in OC.

You should listen to Europipe loud, BBI and Kline too.

BBi is right there and could do a badass exhaust for you that will definitely suit your needs. Only problem is it could take months to get. longboarder on here has one and I think is local. BBi is probably the best sounding exhaust I've heard on the 997.2s and what I personally have.
I had the Tubi catted and although it sounded pretty good, it was on the quiet side (it's 2.5" diameter and the cats are right off the turbos)
Kline sounds very good as well as the 100cel Europipe. SamboTT@bydesign can hook you up.

I have the Kline SS with 200 cell cats (Thanks Sam!) but on a 997.1TT. I am in S. Orange County...be happy to let you hear it sometime.

So how long does it actually take to swap a 997TT exhaust - for the non-mechanically inclined? Consideration here is potential swaps at least every 2 years for smog purposes and potentially a few times a year to run Laguna Seca. I want to decide if I want to do the swapping in and out myself, pay someone to do it, or keep an aftermarket exhaust on most of the time but have silenced turnaway tips fabricated specifically for Laguna. My RX-7 was an exposed exhaust under the body with 2 easy hangers and 4 bolts. Even a mechanically challenged person like me could do it in 30 minutes. My Lotus was too much of a pain - hidden behind a rear panel and diffusers/underbody trays that had to be removed, and such a tight squeeze on hangers that I paid someone to do it. Yanking back and forth on a light car on jack stands seemed like a recipe for disaster. I'm guessing the 997 rear bumper needs removal, which already seems like it's more involved than I'd prefer, but I'd love to hear from people that have done it.

And what exhausts actually come with removable or clamp-on tips that can actually be swapped for different, customized tips like what I would use for Laguna? For example, the Speedtech exhaust above looks like a good option to swap on custom pipes/tips with turnaways and silencers. Looking at the Fabspeed one right above it, it is difficult to tell if those nicely finished twin tips can be easily removed to bolt a Laguna-legal add-on. The one in the video clearly has a removable single tip on each side, but it's different from the one in the still picture (dual tips each side, without the clamp/bolt on the top like the one in the video).

Allow me to answer a few question here. We charge 4 hours to remove the old and replace with the new, this does include removing the bumper which is the correct way to do it. With that said, it CAN be done without removing the bumper but you'll have to wrestle it out of there. The 2 top bolts on the turbos will likely be the slowest part of the install as they are not easy to get to and can give you a lot of grief.

Regarding the tips, ours are very simple! One nut and bolt is used to tighten them or loosen them to replace with a "Laguna-legal" tip.

no expert here, but I will say that the turbos mitigate much of the potential sound enhancement you might expect from an aftermarket exhaust on a NA motor. "Loud" takes on a completely different meaning on these cars.

+1 Chris pretty much covered it. I have a Europipe (100 cell cats) and it works for me! Sweet sounding exhaust!

Different? Take a fabspeed X pipe with cats on both 997.1 and 997.2. Which one will sound better? Is the later 997.2 louder or quieter?
Anyone in Orange County or LA with a fabspeed exhaust X pipe with cats?

Different but yet exhaust wise very similar. The x-pipes anyway are almost identical.
