Four good reasons to purchase a 997 Turbo
Forgive me if you've already seen it, but I shared this with some friends and figured I'd share it with you guys too.
The best piece of journalism I've read in a very long while... Extremely engaging and well written to boot!

Four good reasons to purchase a 997 Turbo
"Until recently I was never much of a Porsche guy and the 911 never appealed to me. As a concept, it’s astonishing that it even works, but for years, it failed to tickle my gearhead pickle—until I drove a 997 Turbo S."
Just because he said the above, I kind of question how much he knows about 911, let alone a 997 Turbo.

"If you’re off-boost, you’ll get stellar fuel economy since the car is light and the engine is relatively small. It has enough trunk space for a weekend trip and it’s extremely comfortable to drive long distances."
I can vouch for this, took up for a weekend upstate with the missus and it was perfect. Admiring looks by the concierge and guests at the resort, compliments by the valet at dinner (he parked it up front) all the while tame enough for her to read her kindle book on her iPad on the drive up! The perfect getaway car...!

LOL, I think its relative to comparable alternatives (R8 V10, F430, Gallardo etc). I must confess I have checked my highway fuel consumption (mpg) but for me frequent fill-ups had more to do with my driving style (90%+ in Sport mode without the missus obviously) and the car's small fuel tank ~ 16 gallons!
You've got me thinking, I'll pay more attention to it.

Just to chime in on mileage -- to commute to work is 23 miles, all highway, and starts from ~1500 ft. sea level to ~50 ft. sea level. Per the PCM, I get ~23-24 mpg if I stay out of boost. On the way home (uphill), I get ~18-19 mpg. But, staying out of boost is no fun
BTW, car is tuned (GIAC) and has basic mods (intake, exhaust, intercoolers)

Speaking of gas mileage....driving out to airstrip and track events I gotten over 30mpg on a 997.2 PDK just cruising on the highway between 70-80mph. Always below 2,000rpm in 7th gear.
The only reason why I know this is because I usually try to show up to the event with the Remaining Miles on ----- so I barely have any pump gas left in the tank.
