After some street launch control testing they are definitely more consistent than the rear R888's. But the true test will be on the drag strip and airstrip environments!

Do you have upgraded axels?

You might want to add that FOR SURE to your mod list!
The 997.2's apparently have much stronger axels than the 997.1, according to Champion. They said I should be fine.

Hey Anthony, I should be good with the 997.2 axels at my power level. Now at your power level....

Thank Mark - I'll try various psi levels. I was going to start at 25 and go down from there at Famoso Dec 12. Are you going? I see Nigel is signed up.

Had those tires in my vette back in the day...the best track PSI was in the 18 to 22 range COLD!

The only problem I see, you won't be able to heat those tires in the same manner as RWD applications. If you could, then you'll get the real glue/grip you would love.

PS, I was cutting 1.32's to 1.36's 60' times with those tires with the Z06.

Thanks,
E-Gear

Great info thanks!!! Correct I will not be able to heat them up. Champion used these rear tires and drove around the waterbox when they did their 9.83 @ 135.1 run with their 997.2 bolt on car. Track prep will have a lot to do with how well I can launch. I will try 18-22psi

Will drive 400 miles round trip to and from the drag strip Dec 12 @ Famoso private track rental with these. Hopefully I can cut much better 60 foot times than I have with the r888's.

Gonna go out and test launch a bunch of times to make sure the car can handle these bad boys

As of last week this was the list. They have since sold out (now 100 cars). The first event I barely missed winning 1st place against the 1,200 wheel Camaro. It is a points aggregation-based system. The Camaro had 15 runs and I had 11. I posted better average ET's but he had more runs and more points. I should be able to win if I hot lap 20 runs or something. Most of these are trailored drag cars and can't do more than 5 runs per day lol.

Damn dude that is an impressive list of cars. Wonder how many people out of the 100 opt for the VIP pass to get more runs in. 100 is a lot of cars to get down the track in 6 hours and I'd imagine there is a good amount of waiting in between runs. Hopefully no one breaks on the track or it will suck big time.

Track prep will be key. When we did the run at PBIR using the same rear tires, the track prep wasn't great, so the tires definitely helped. We also ran it in the "slow lane" at PBIR because they don't let you choose your lane on test/tune nights. Tried a few runs going through the water/burnout box but that seemed to hurt the launch more then it helped.

My other customer in NY who was pretty consistently in the 9's with his 997.2 was only running R888's all around, but was at Atco which is prepped REALLY well...so it seems like you've got most of the bases covered.

Thx for the info Tom. Does 18-22psi tire pressure sound correct to you?

Atta boy! All you were missing was the launch....you will definitely kick some *** now. The only thing you need to do is make sure you do plenty of launches. The PDK will need to adapt to all that added grip and on the 997.2 and 991 has been known to act up. For me and CPI GUY, our PDK would delay the 1-2 shift. After about a month the delay went away. So don't wait until the last minute...launch a bunch of times as soon as you get the tires installed.
