You want all movement in the transmission housing due to torque induced twist to be eliminated to prevent missed gears (that end up in ruined synchros). You simply have to have leverage in your shifter for racing, especially when it comes to hitting that 1-2 shift which is the worst offender due to shortest gear ratio i.e. highest torque multiplication.

Yes, I also went back to the stock 996 long throw shifter too.

What do you guys think of the CAE shifter on this car? Does it fit the center console area? I had it in my turboed E46 M3 back in the day, it worked really well with the BMW gearbox there.

I have the CAE shifter on my big turbo BMW N54 and its helped with the 1-2 shift there by allowing for more leverage. On that car it doesn't nicely tuck away into the centre console, not sure about the 997 centre console.

Personally haven't had any issues with 1-2 shifts on this car so far.

We've never really had to deal with their customer service and we're not a dealer so I can't say much at all about that on our end. We use a Numeric now with shifter cables and haven't really felt a need to change anything else there on the 997.

+1

After getting treated like crap, I had to walk away of buying the CAE shifter. I bought the Numeric and cables and had the complete opposite experience.

These are amazing numbers. Can this be done with 91 octane and methanol?

PTF's personal car is making about the same, if not a tad more power with pump 94 and meth:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...6-project.html

Might be a little less on 91, but should make some good power still.

+1

Depending on the sort of race gas used (some are more oxygenated than others and oxygen matters), numbers should be very close if not the same as pump gas and meth.

We're using the RSS engine mounts, OEM transmission mounts. The amount of flex OEM engine mounts have under full load at these power levels is unacceptable. We've been really happy with RSS engine mounts so far.
