It was terrible and around timed a road course certain lesser HP cars would have beat that car for sure IMO.

Useable power/drivability is key on a turbo installation especially at events all rounder events. Take the **** out of the Duck as much as you want but most of you know what he's saying has validity. For balance I do not think Duckstu even with big conventional turbos realises how effective the 996/997 turbo platform is. I suspect some of those high HP 996/997 he's raced against in the past really did not have the power claimed which is par for the course both in Europe and the US for that matter. Just my 2 pennies
My friend Supra's use to own the 1mile before it was popular and held the 1mile record for many years. Only when the Ford GT's and lambo's came out that crown was taken and not by much! Only the GT crushed everyone. In all those years of Supra's on top 240mph + I never saw one flip, but they are almost ideal for high speed runs! Small front areas, larger rear end for stability the car is almost aerodynamically perfect for that type of runs. They had many huge HP domestic frustrated (vipers,Vettes etc) for a long time! I don't think even up to now with the mega $$ 911 builds that a 911 has taken down a Supra mph from almost 10yrs ago! And we are talking very clean machines like SW's etc.

Again Supra's with their huge HP has been doing this a lot longer on top then any other.

Maybe you didn't know so I forgive you, as Supra's were most of my car life since ....forever!!

To the second statement, lol. I've owned several fd's from stock to 850whp. In stock form, the sequential dip from primary to secondary turbo drops 2psi as the gate cuts over. My car was extremely faster 0-60 on a td08 turbo making 500 wheel. I would launch from a light and look back and most cars would have barely hit the intersection. Note I said intersection, it was on the street.

This thread is full of win.

Also - stock R1 Fd was 0-60 in 5.1, the R2 was 5.2. I can do it in 2.7 with my 920awhp 997 on 280 tread.
Think I remember you from the RX7club boards. The 7s were a great car and hooked very well. I went from stock to upgraded twins, a TO4R and finally the LS1. My favorite ended up being the LS though as, even though it made less power than the single, it was just easier to drive and I loved the low end grunt. Never dragged both of them in similar conditions so not sure which was actually 'faster' with the different power bands.

Yeah, I still lurk around there every once in awhile.

The LS2 in my last FD was great, though I do enjoy a properly boosted 13b-rew

4flynlow is infamous around these parts
This weekend I assisted in the install of the IPD plenum and Y pipe on my 2012 997.2 TTS.
The benefits were immediately noticeable and my butt dyno can tell the car is definitely pulling stronger. For any considering this mod you can feel comfortable with the purchase as IPD offers a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. The owner of IPD is a great guy named Turbo Mike and he is extremely knowledgable about these cars and a real pleasure to deal with. Two thumbs up for Turbo Mike and IPD!

My butt dyno is pretty good.
That being said the car will be going to bbi next week for some service and additional mods.
We will be doing before and after dyno runs so I will post our findings and results.

I'll be doing some 1/2 mile pulls and data logs later this month. I'll see if the 60-130 times improved.
