just an FYI to everyone out there that is looking for an Intercooler and or Turbo inlet pipe upgrade for your 997.1 Turbo. i have been looking to make the jump for an upgraded intercooler for some time. I looked around and did not want to spend around the $3000 mark, which most aftermarket coolers cost. I recently purchased the new DO88 intercoolers and Turbo inlet pipes from Fredrik at Do88. First off the product arrived within 5 days to my house in Missouri from Switzerland! amazing service and the price for what you get is hard to beat! I recently had my performance shop install both the intercoolers and turbo inlet pipes. The fit is amazing and wow i can tell a huge difference (butt dyno). I just wanted everyone to know that for a very reasonable price there is another intercooler and turbo inlet pipe option out there. I have attached some of the pics of the fit and finish of the intercoolers. They fit perfectly and did not need zip ties to hold the air shrouds on like others i have seen. Thank you so much Fredrik. Would be nice to have some reliable data showing the benefit of this IC vs .1 OEM, sure do look nice though and sounds like they fit, but I had heard that there was still some modifications required...are they a perfect fit?

 

the inlets are awesome and are true contribution to the 997tt community. turbo inlets are a great mod and up until these we have very expensive options such as Evo and Champion.

i am curious as to why the intercoolers look painted/coated tho, i always thought that hurt heat transfer.

 

Definitely going to pick up a set of those...is the cost reasonable haven't checked the Franc to dollar conversion.

 

They really look like a quality kit that is hard to beat for the price especially in combination with their proven turbo inlet piping. I recall PTF introducing these here with a great deal a few weeks back.

 

Looks like a nice product at a reasonable cost. I wish there was a shot looking inside the end tanks at the core interior to see how they compare with others. The cost is around $1,300 when converted to our dollar and they came with nice silicone hoses. My shop has pics of install. I will try to dig these up. You do have to trim around the shroud but it still is a better fit than the gt2 core. No zip ties required... Compared to the stock 997.1 it is a massive improvement! Just the end tanks themselves are wider like gt2's compared to stock 997.1. The inlet hoses I feel made a difference from DO88 as well. You can feel it for sure in the higher rpm. It flows better on the high end therefore you don't have the hesitation per say as the Rpm's rise as you do with stock hoses.

I think/hope its coated in that heat transfering coating that a few entities are using these days.

I don't have personal knowledge, but the data seems to support that it aids in cooling. Dont have any links but the info is out there.

If that is indeed what they are doing, its very smart. I planned on coating most performance parts with it.

We have worked with do88 for a long while now and feedback has been excellent. We use the inlet pipes on our shop's 997.1 turbo with Tial Alpha 3076s.

from what i've heard from a pretty reliable source says these really aren't much of an upgrade, especially compared to the gt2rs units.

 

The turbo inlet pipes from do88 are larger than OEM 997.1 intake pipes and flow 10% more air than OEMs at stock boost levels, more at higher boost levels where the OEM pipes become restrictive and start showing higher vacuum after the air filter. At 1.3bar they will start to help in a few ways: 1) higher airflow 2) less vacuum in the intake pipes results in slower turbo shaft speeds which in turn results in reduced IATs/easier on your turbos especially on your 0-300kph pulls

They're definitely an upgrade over the OEM intake pipes and the higher the boost the more important they become. These are far more important than the y-pipe and the 82mm throttle body/plenum especially on VTGs.

If you're really curious and want to do some data gathering with your intake pipes/turbos/boost levels you can add a nipple on your current OEM intake pipe right after the filter box and measure vacuum there as you go WOT. If you're pulling vacuum there (especially if you go 10" of vacuum or more) while at WOT your intake is restrictive and upgrading it will result in both power and response gains. You can test/verify gains on any intake this way.
