2011 911 Turbo S oil filter questions

Hi,
I have a 2011 911 Turbo S and I am wondering about the oil filter.
I ordered original Porsche one from Suncoast http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK997POINT2.html and they list the same filter kit part for 2010-2013 911 turbo and turbo s.
I receive it and it's Porsche part #94810722200 (arrives dual labeled also as Mahle ox254).
Trying to save money in the future and to do a comparison on quality, I also go to Rockauto.com at the same time and order the one they show for the car which is Mahle ox128/1d. I ordered that one too.

So, they both arrive and the Porsche original(or actually Mahle ox256) is 3.25 inches diameter and the Rockauto one is 2.5 inches diameter, Inside hole is same diameter measurement. Gasket are also different sizes...
I now check Mahle website http://catalog.mahle-aftermarket.com...&show=fahrzeug and they also list the ox128/1d.

Are the 2 filters interchangeable?

Thanks

Interchangeable maybe? No reason I would ever put the smaller filter in an engine like these. In this case it's simple, bigger = more surface area = better.

No, the smaller filter and seal is for the non-dfi engine. The larger filter and green seal is used on the new engines. I do believe your 2011 turbo s still uses that smaller filter and seal though

You have both filters....do the oil change and use the filter that matches what comes out of the car.

Thanks for the replies.
I guess I could see what's in there now and match it when the winter ends and I do the job but i would be really interested to know what came from the factory.

I just did an oil change today on a 997.1tt and visually the filter looks like the one on the left in your picture..

He's got a different motor though.

7.1 is for sure the smaller one.

Rock Auto has the wrong filter listed for the 997.2TT. I leared the hard way as well and did notify RA about the issue.

Just a followup...
Did the oil change and sure enough the larger filter was in there (MAHLE OX254D4ECO) so that's what I replaced it with and will use each time in the future. Thanks
