997.2 stock turbo does 139.9 1/4 mile vBox at Shift Sector
#1
What's up guys, just getting back from an amazing weekend. It was Shift Sector's Exotic Airstrip Attack on Saturday and the 911 Turbo platform dominated the event. There were two upgraded turbo 991's that took the top trap speeds.
It was the perfect venue to test out the GIAC upgraded fuel system on my car. While it ran perfect on the dyno, the G-forces on the airstrip caused some cavitation (we think) that triggered a fuel-related code on every run that then caused the car to go into limp mode. But on three runs it allowed the car to do almost a full half mile before limping. Here's the readouts from the vBox for my 3 runs:
1/2 mile 166 to 167.7 (tied out exactly with Shift Sector timing equipment)
1/4 mile 138.3 to 139.9
60-130 6.1 to 6.2
Density altitude for the times of my runs were 2,500 to 2,700 feet.
These are much better than any of my previous bests at Shift Sector without the fuel system. My previous bests were:
1/2 mile 164.6
1/4 mile 136.6
60-130 6.47
For those not familiar with my car here's the engine mods:
GIAC tune
Champion Intercoolers
BBI 200 cel catted exhaust
IPD plenum and Y
BMC air filter
meth injection
That's it! Still on the original factor stock turbos and DVs at 38,000 miles!
The car will be dropped back off at GIAC later today to address the code and get it squared away for the NoFlyZone half mile event on April 2 to finish the testing. I'll post updates soon.
Cheers.

Hello Adam, Good to see you keep improving!! Wish I would have been there also, maybe the NFZ but I wont hold my breath!
What was the MPH of the 991s? Why would they have achieved top trap speed? I would have thought with the mods you have the 991s would have seen your taillights.
When will your video be posted!!!

There were two other 997's in attendance. There was a 997.1 bolt ons and he did 155 which was fantastic given the conditions. Jeff was there with his 997.2 (GT2 RS body kit with Mexico Blue wrap) with 68 impeller turbos but he was saying his buddy was supposed to bring up his meth and drag radials but didn't make it so his car wasn't 100%. Maybe Jeff can chime in and clarify his setup and trap speeds I think it was low 160's not exactly sure.
There were two upgraded turbo 991's and they were the fastest cars of the event both trapping over 170mph. Top trap I think was 175.6. Stock 991 did 153 and my tune-only 991 did 160.5 on pump gas with 2 gallons of e85 (tuned for 91).

No the 991's have a much bigger fuel system so they can do turbo upgrades FBO meth and make way more power. They are mid-140 1/4 mile cars.
I'm trying to take the stock turbos to their full potential on both platforms. Not done with the 997.2 yet and I'm just getting started on the 991. So the upgraded turbo cars will be faster than me. My intent was never to be the fastest.

Thanks!
Thx but I don't know the ET as I don't have it programmed into my vBox screen. I can upload to vBoxtools.com to see the ETs I guess but I'm sure they were nothing special since on most runs I just rolled out no launch control. On the launch control tries I got immediate limps from what I remember.
And no more RedList events as I'm done drag racing. I much prefer to road race with the occasional airstrip event. You are going to bust axles just like I did if you use anything but street tires. It's not just if it's when! I don't feel like getting towed home again. And I'm not investing in a trailer. So if I can't drive the car to and from the event, it's an event I'm not interested in participating in.
Sorry we missed you at Shift Sector.

Shift Sector Results
I had a great time at Shift Sector and met a lot of great people including Adam for the first time. My 997.2 did a best of 163.4 before my methenol ran out and nobody had any to spare at the event. I was on worn out tires 10% tread left so I was spinning through 3rd gear. My friend planned to attend the event but had a emergency come up last second and could not make it out. He had my tires, meth so I was kind of screwed. Al in all I will be attending more events in the near future and I certain my times will improve. I want to thank Jared from BBI, Turbo Mike from IPD for the race support. until next time

There's two more airstrip events in April (Shift Sector end of April and NoFlyZone April 2) so it will give you some time to get dialed in and arrangements to get your tires/supplies. I just drive up with my stuff so I don't worry about the important stuff not making it!
Thanks my friend. Are you still stock or have you bit the bullet yet?

I ran my 997.2 turbo (completely stock) on the Sunday and ran 149. With Launch Control and awd it was fun racing away from all the high HP rwd carws (read BMW's, Mercs etc) So nice to drive to the event...run and then drive home.....
