Numeric Racing Short Shifter - excessive play
Hey guys, thought I'd share this with you, in case any one else has experienced the same.
My innitial opinion on the Numeric Racing Short Throw Shifter is that it provides a much more tactile response, and direct shifting - substantially better than the stock or even factory short shifter.
However...
After around 12 months of fantastic operation, it started to develop a lot of "play".
I am aware that the first generation models had some issues with their bearings.
Mine came after they allegedly repaired those.
I also have cup cables, but that would have nothing to do with the issue I am experiencing (although I thought I'd mention it).
Any way, I'll be stripping away the boot to better identify the issue, but thought I might post this now.

Actually yes, I had exactly the same problem. I bought a used Numeric, approx 12mos of use, and they were in need of replacement. There was significant axial play in the front bearing on the main shaft for side to side pivot. You could take the lever in hand and feel distinct clunking on the shaft when lifting straight up and down. Also at the clevis pivot section where the actuating shaft rides in the slotted section of the clevis as the gear lever is moved side to side, noticeable play here as well. So while the billet frame and other parts themselves showed zero wear, this shifter had apparently been ridden pretty hard for quite a while. All pivot points now have zero perceptible play. Numeric simply replaced ALL the bearings for a flat $35. Chump change really. I wasn't the original purchaser, which I was up front about, so the lifetime warranty didn't apply here. If you were the original purchaser, lifetime warranty, so no worries. I'm still into the whole setup for barely $400, which is a lot less than the $700 a new one costs. Again, Numeric were great folks to work with, they turned it around same day.

Hmm. Any idea when the design rev occurred? I installed one last year. I probably haven't driven the car enough to cause any discernable wear though. It's unintentionally turned into a garage queen for a while.
