Changing to GT3 Wheels on my Turbo S 997.2

I'm in the process of changing to the wider GT3 997.2 wheels on my 997.2 Turbo S. I originally planned on getting the sport cup 2 tires but ended up going with the PS4 tires instead. I got the stock turbo s and gt3 tires sizes. (235 and 305)

My question is, will I notice a difference between the two, besides the obvious difference in appearance? Has anyone done this?

I don't believe the 997.2 GT3 wheels are wider than the 997.2T. The standard GT3 is a narrow body, the GT3 RS is a wide body like the 997.2T.

So, you probably want to look for 997.2 GT3 RS wheels.

I have done it. Stance is improved in my opinion. From 11 to 12 in the rear, and 8.5 to 9 in front. Plug and play.

Looks amazing! I'm assuming you went with the standard size tires even though the wheels are wider? 235 F and 305R? Your tires don't looked stretched in your pictures...

That looks great! I'm assuming no rubbing? (More so on the inside) I actually bought tires already but I can send them back. I bought the stock sizes 235/305 but I wonder if it would look stretched? Also how is the speedometer? Is it off at all?

nothing comes close to rubbing. Everything is normal.

fasthwks is infamous around these parts
I switched to a set of GMG wheels from a GT3 RS car and run stock 997.2 tires. They work fine with no issues but they do have a "little stretched" look to them. I will move up in tire size when replacing these for sure. I had just bought these and hated to waste the money at the time and since I do not track the car it was a non issue for me. I would get the correct size for the wheels if you have that option.

I had purchased tires before starting this thread. According to Tire Rack vehicle selection method for a gt3, it's OK to run 235-35-19 and 305-30-19 tires on the 8.5 and 12 rims. But if you plug in those tire sizes on their site, they say a 305 should only go up to 11.5 inch wheel.

I love the idea of more traction but I don't like more weight. I'm guessing I should send these back and go with the wider wheel...

Are these GT3 wheels or GT3RS wheels? I think the offsets are different since the 3RS is widebody.

Both the GT3 and GT3RS use the same wheels and I couldn't find any different part numbers suggesting a different offset.

I called Tire Rack yesterday and asked about tires. They said I could use either size. That the GT3 uses 235/305 and the GT3RS uses 245/325. The strange thing to me is, if you look up the tires and click on the specifications, the 305 only go up to an 11.5 inch wheel? I asked Tire Rack about this specifically and they got out "The Book" which said it was actually the original spec for the 997.2 GT3. For now I'm waiting for my wheels to be powder coated and will fit the 235/305 I already have. If they don't look or drive right I will move up.

The offsets are actually different between the 997.2 GT3 (narrow body) and GT3RS (wide body). The wheels look similar but have different offsets due to variance between widebody and narrow body.

Widebody GT3RS wheels: Part #9972010RSW. Offsets are 47mm front and 48mm rear.

Narrow body 997.2 GT3 wheels: Part #9972010GT3W. Offsets are 53mm front and 63mm rear.

Nice find! Did you notice the 3RS fronts are actually 9 inches wide opposed to the regular GT3 front wheels, which are only 8.5 inches wide. I think that's why I had trouble finding a different part number. I searched 8.5 inch wheels... It looks like the rears are the same at 12 inches.

Yep
The RS has the front fender flares so the front wheels are more aggressive than the standard GT3.

offsets

what are the offsets on the wheels you put on your 997.2 and where did you source them? I assume from what has been said by others that you actually used an RS offset/wheel? Is that correct?
