GT3 vs 997TT

According to Porsche's specifications, both the GT3 and 997TT seems to have the same top speed which is 193 mph. But yet the GT3 goes from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and the 997TT does the same deed in 3.4 secs with the Tip and 3.7 with the manual. Is this possible? Maybe it's the gearing and/or the aerodynamics?

No brainer.....and who's cares about 0-60mph, lol.

Weight....advantage GT3

Faster on a race track...advantage GT3

Styling....advantage GT3

Resale and Value.....advantage GT3

....I'd say the GT3 is going to be the very car to put a big hurtin' on 997TT sales...

THe fastest acceleration to 60 also benefits from the torque of the 997TT and the AWD. The 997TT will be a great GT. Maybe the best. THe GT3s are different animals.

I think GT3 also. I think it's the best looking car they have put out since the 1994 911 Turbo. I was suprised to see they have PASM/TC as standard. I know the 996 GT# doesn't even have that as an option.

I agree with all of you, and that's why my name is going straight on the list for a white GT3

The GT3 and the turbo should cater to different needs. The turbo will be a great all-around car that can easily be used as a daily driver. GT3 will be a great weekend car with a much narrower focus.

0-60 really doesn't matter, who here races at street lights? Mostly freeway pulls if your going to race with supercars. I agree the GT3 will have better resale and does look better.

I was just wondering WHY the Turbo and the GT3 have the same top end speed despite the fact that the Turbo has more horsepower. Not which one is better. I have no doubt in my mind that the GT3 is a better driver's car.

The GT3 is an awesome car but the TT is better for me. Just as fast or FASTER plus all the creature comforts and rear seats to boot, which I need in a daily driver. In the best of both worlds I would buy both, or better yet get the Club Sport as a second Porsche.

Most likely, the narrow body(less drag) on the GT3 allows it to reach the same top speed as the turbo even though it has less power.

As for better 0-60 times for the turbo, probably a combination of better power to weight ratio and all wheel drive is the reason.

AWD is the main reason why the turbo has such a good 0-60mph. Just take a look at the STI's and EVO's. They will kill many exotic cars at a street light race and cost less than $35k.
