Xona Turbo XR1000 Conversion (ByDesign)- Full Review!

1000 wheel HP would require a fuel system build and a transmission build.... I had to draw the line somewhere. I’m still on the stock fuel system- I think we’ve pretty much maxed it out on e85 at 850 wheel HP.

Bogg it's different in terms of their 2 cars have increased displacement, and at least pwdrhound also has increased VE. So we would expect them to make more power at the same pressure. Though everyone is aware just be careful comparing across different dynos.
Bogg your car won't be that far off from what they are seeing though.

my brother and I just did motor builds with John bray/Sam. I kept my 63.5’s to see what they can do without holding back (way better than we thought). My brother upgraded to the xona XR1000 with upgraded fuel system from John bray. My car is done and my brothers car gets tuned this week. So that will give you your answer. Stay tuned for a full write up and comparison...

Fantastic writeup, thanks for sharing Keith.
Sam mentioned your build to me.
Asher - been a while. Hope you're doing well bud!
We've just finished my build too. Almost identical to yours - 3.8L built engine John Bray/Sam + James (SCAN Vancouver), 1300 injectors, IDP GT3 TB, with many more goodies, tuned for 91+Meth, but still using Champion 68mm VTGs, so it's great to hear these success stories.
We're just working through a very annoying bugbear where the car stalls (~5% of the time) when coming to a stop from 3rd/or2nd as soon as clutch is depressed. Need to find the cause of that, and finish the recommended break in period for the engine, before we do the final performance tuning on Meth.

oh for sure. I’m trying to take the 140 class at street car takeover roll race events. We had been finishing 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, numerous top 10. I’ll see where this puts me. Be an easy upgrade next season to do the fuel system and xr1000 if I desire. My car makes 775/800 at the wheels with 63.5s. 3.8, stage 1 cams, ipd stuff. Out of fuel and turbo. John/Sam turned it up to 830 ft-lbs but not enough fuel for sams liking.

We will have direct comparison 1/4 mile numbers, roll race event mph, 60-130 times as well as daily driving thoughts on the 2. Lot of time in both these cars before the builds, so should be very informative for a lot of people. I’ll start thread as soon as the cars get back here. Not trying to hijack.

I did Todd’s twin disk setup with the gt3 lwfw. I was running the Sachs 2.5. Was making 705/700 before the built motor. It’s def worth giving John bray a call as he was extremely reasonable. I said I’d never pay for a motor build until speaking to him. Also, my rods were a little twisty and so were my brothers. Lol. Cars ran great, so no signs. Lol
