Here are some photos of the "brain" of the 997TT. We are working on the computer as we speak. Those of you who are familiar with these computers, it looks nothing like the 996TT ECU. Additionally there is a separate controller that is not pictured that is also part of the engine functions.

If you figure the power gains on the 996TT came from increasing boost from 11 psi to 15 psi, while adjusting fuel and timing it would be hard to get the same gains from the 997TT. The 997TT already runs 18 PSI which is only in over boost mode. I don’t think these turbos can take much more than that especially since the increased heat will decrease the life of them. The reason for the EGT probe in the turbine and only a 10 second over boost is due to the fear of cooking these turbos. This is the reason these turbos are water cooled as well as constant monitoring of the EGT's. I have noticed that the over boost mode is VERY inconsistent. Sometimes it will hold 18 PSI and sometimes it will spike to 18 PSI and then fall to 15 PSI.

There will be a good improvement with the software, exhaust, headers, but I would be surprised if 650 is obtainable with these turbos without modifications. We will see. <O =""></O>
Wow very interesting information, cant wait to see what you guys whip up, and learning for about the 997tt's technology and what can be changed and perfected!

Thanks for sharing. Martin

It will be interesting. We plan on dyno testing the car this week. I am waiting for some additional 70 MPH fans to arrive so we spot cool different areas of the car. I will be posting the process and results soon.

Who the hell knows. I loved my last 930 and wanted another one. I have not seen this car it use to belong to "rico930" I had it shipped directly to Stephen at IA to build the motor and put it back together. That was almost a year ago. Stephan is busy as am I and it is just sitting. The motor is 450HP and just needs to be installed. Would make a great car if anyone is interested in it. At this point I am not that attached

The reason we have not tested it yet is because we do not have adequate cooling at my friend’s facility. We are waiting for our 5 portable 70 MPH fans to arrive so we can at least replicate some airflow. When we move into our facility in 1 month, we will be testing with our 20 HP 100+ MPH wind tunnel fan. As we have debated about on other threads, without adequate cooling and the factory tools, you are kidding yourself if you are looking for true and accurate data. Temperatures, timing and overall power is affected when these conditions change. Additionally, there are many different timing / power maps in the ECU that change and cannot be seen with a generic scanner. There is a specific data block "RON dependent Map" that can only be seen with the PIWIS. Dont worry, I have my bases covered regarding the dyno testing and we will post the differences in power with the different OEM maps

It appears that we will begin dyno testing next week. We started digging into the car a bit this week and we have some work to do before we begin testing. Porsche has made some major changes to the entire engine. The main components are the same but the top end, fuel system, intake, etc are all new. We have also been working with GIAC on the software which has been a work in progress. We will have more to add shortly.

So much for me taking a drive in it while it was stock.

Edit: (I know I was supposed to check it out Monday but the end of the month kicked my ***.)

When can we fit the 997 Turbos on our 996TTs?

...and can the 997 TT be converted to RWD by pulling a fuse like the Skyline?

I am not sure that would be an upgrade. I am not 100% convinced that these turbos are all that. There has been a lot of hype but from all of the research that I have done, these turbos are perfect for a mild mannered fuel efficient street car. They have their limitations and are not "lag free".
