Sl65 vs 997 turbo.
#76
Sorry for adding the super late comment to a 4 year old thread...but I had an SL 65 (bone stock) before I joined the turbo party. Nothing...nothing compared to the immense acceleration you would feel at any speed. The car was awful off the line because all you got was wheel spin and the stupid traction control would cut you off...but heaven help any car that tried to @$*! with you while you were driving. Even my best friend noted today that the 997 TT, while amazing and fast, just doesn't have the same throw-your-***-back-into-your-seat acceleration as the SL. Mine was a lemon and broke down all the time. That's why I got rid of it (I would have kept it forever if it wasn't in the shop every month) and decided to join the 997 TT party and have a supercar that doesn't have supercar reliability!

Off the line? No doubt--the AWD and less weight will kill the SL. However, 60mph-120? Nothing can touch the 65. I've owned both so I can attest to this (my 997 TT is stock so this doesn't included modded cars and no disrespect to those who own them). But anyways, as someone alluded to earlier (4 years earlier I think ), this is an apples to oranges comparison. They are both beautiful and amazing cars with different purposes. I just consider myself blessed to have been able to own both in my short life
