These show the clear advantage to the 997TT. but it did run 7:40 at the ring, did the sl65 run even in the 7:xx's?

From car and driver! And there is a video of a Ruf 550 beating a CL65 on a rented out runway, i dont know but i think from a roll it would be close, sorry but my nods are towards the SL65, this is based off pure experience, too bad my friend just sold his SL65 renntech, he got an F430 though

up at higher speeds, the SL65 would dominate even more because of its large displacement engine and the extra 6 cylinders....but high speed stability is another thing.
with the limiter removed, the SL65 can easily go beyond 200mph, but the 997 turbo, although with its amazing aerodynamics and TT engine, still cant break the 200 barrier yet..

I will say SL65. 40mph to 160mph highway rolling is where the 65 shine. From dead stop, the 65 have serious traction problem with street tires and 997TT will beat or closer to 65.

On the Nurburgring the main factor should be the weight and traction so easy to see the Turbo lap faster than the 65...
Probably on a highway run from 40 to 160 the SL would be faster with all its torque ( I'm not sure about that anyway ).
