I def gonna go with the 997TT. im pretty sure it traps higher and doesnt have as much drag or weight as the 65.

According to www.track-challenge.com the SL65 does the following.

<table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td nowrap="nowrap">0-62 mph</td> <td nowrap="nowrap" width="3"> </td> <td class="testdata" nowrap="nowrap"> 4.3 s

Not sure about a 997TT hockenheim time, BUT

997TT
0-60 mph 3.4 s(tip) 3.6(6MT)
0-100 mph 7.8-8.0
50-75 mph I think 304 secong range in 6TH GEAR! other gears are going to be faster

These show the clear advantage to the 997TT. but it did run 7:40 at the ring, did the sl65 run even in the 7:xx's?

EDIT: 997TT 50-70 in 5th gear 3 sec.

Despite its weight, the thing is FAST and handles well. I tried to tell everyone, but myabe the .93 skidpad roadhandling number would help

it is actually not that difficult to understand. SL55 weights much less than the SL65 because of the bigger engine. Furthermore, the engine of the SL65 is mounted in the front, and with all that weight so far up, the car will definately oversteer in the corners. Especially in a track like the nurburgring, cornering speeds are much more cruical than the straightline raw power.

and in the straightline, i seriously doubt the 997 turbo would be able to keep up with the SL65....sorry, but the SL65 can blow by the 1/4 mark at 11s, and thats bone stock..
up at higher speeds, the SL65 would dominate even more because of its large displacement engine and the extra 6 cylinders....but high speed stability is another thing.

with the limiter removed, the SL65 can easily go beyond 200mph, but the 997 turbo, although with its amazing aerodynamics and TT engine, still cant break the 200 barrier yet..

just my 2 cents

I will say SL65. 40mph to 160mph highway rolling is where the 65 shine. From dead stop, the 65 have serious traction problem with street tires and 997TT will beat or closer to 65.

My friend with the renntech SL65 is coming back town next week, I will try to take some videos with 997TT vs SL65!

On the Nurburgring the main factor should be the weight and traction so easy to see the Turbo lap faster than the 65...
Probably on a highway run from 40 to 160 the SL would be faster with all its torque ( I'm not sure about that anyway ).
Someone here should post a video like that...

My 997TT inches away from my SL55 with the K2 tuning, but it is only just inching away at 140. The SL65 has 19 more hp and 100 more tq.
