"EVOlution of a 997TT" (Part 2) ~545 HP / 590 TQ

For those of you who have been following: "The official EVOlution of a 997TT" Thread this is a continuation of that thread.

Today we are pleased to release more information regarding upgraded software for the 997TT. For the past few months, we have been working closely with Garrett Lim of GIAC on performance software, flashing and testing different calibrations for the car. We have not released much of this information during our testing phase because we were not sure how long the process would take. There has been a learning curve as this new ECU is very well protected and is very sensitive to any and all changes made to the calibration.

As we mentioned in our other thread power gains were ~40 HP / 40 TQ to the wheels. We have confirmed today that these gains are fairly accurate but a conservative figure for a completely stock 997TT on 91 octane fuel. Additionally, the power gains are significantly greater on cars fitted with a free flow exhaust / high flow catalysts.

Our cars original baseline:
~ 420 AWHP and 430 TQ on 91 octane. (495 HP, 510 TQ)
~ 425 AWHP and 450 TQ on 94 octane. (500 HP, 530 TQ)

Our car with Sport Exhaust, High Flow Catalysts and EVO/GIAC BETA software upgrade:
~ 462 AWHP and ~500 TQ on 91 octane. (545 HP, 590 TQ)
There was a max HP gain of 60 HP @ ~5000 RPMS
There was a max TQ gain of 80 TQ @ ~3650 RPMS

We have more dyno testing to conduct with 94 octane as well as race fuel. We will be testing more components with this stage of power development shortly to see if there is more power to be had.

Overall we are VERY pleased with the results. The car feels MUCH stronger and the acceleration is very smooth. Boost is much more consistent which was something many people complain about. The car pulls hard and the power curve is not as choppy as it was before. I will be releasing more data, dynos, 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times shortly.

Release date for the software / tuning system as well as pricing will be available shortly.

Here is a short video of the car accelerating on a private road

Todd are you guys feeling a bit more confident as time goes on with the amount of tuning that you guys are going to be able to achieve with the new car?

Not to doubt the claims here, but out of curiosity, I imported the video into an editor and measured the 0-60 time as about 4.1 seconds and 0-100 at about 8.3 seconds.

Maybe a bad launch on the 0-60, but the 60-->100 time of about 4.2s is slower than reported elsewhere (e.g., https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...0&postcount=1).

Again, maybe a bad shift or whatever so this proves nothing, but thought I would share.

I did the same thing and it is ABSOLUTELY not an accurate way to determine the time of the car. See my post below with data today from my Driftbox GPS data logging system.

I just got back from doing some 0-60 / 0-100 MPH and 1/4 mile runs in the 997TT with our 545 HP/590TQ upgrade system. I am using a Driftbox GPS data logger which is a very accurate timing devise. More info about this unit can be found here:Driftbox Info I have video as well of the runs but since I was alone, they are not very good. Here are the results from my runs today as compared to stock and our stage 1 upgrade.

EVO 997TT 545 HP / 590 TQ
Best, Average

0-60: 3.2, 3.3
0-100: 7.2, 7.4
1/4 mile: 11.30 @ 126, 11.40 @125

EVO 997TT Stage 1
Best, Average

0-60: 3.4, 3.6
0-100: 8.9, 8.9
1/4 mile: 11.94 @ 121, 11.97 @ 120

STOCK 997TT
Best, Average<o =""></o>
0-60: 3.8, 3.9
0-100: 9.7, 9.8
1/4 mile: 12.27 @ 117, 12.35 @ 116
<o =""></o>
Based on these results, the car is making some serious power. We will be releasing more information early next week.

Very cool. It makes the wait for my 997TT (to be modded in due course) even longer. At least I have my modded 996TT to pacify me in the interim (currently EVO stage 4, with GT700 upgrade in December).

Wow! Those Driftbox numbers are really impressive. Dropping one full second off the 1/4 mile is shocking.

Todd, I have VBOX tools and can graph those runs with G's if you are interested. I can pull out a 60-130 as well. Let me know. That GPS unit is the best money I have spent in a long time. Kevin
