Is Limited rear differential worth the money?

Can anyone please explain the practical use option 220, Limited rear differential mechanical.

I am thinking of buying a pre owned 997 turbo and I don'n really know what it means. I have understood that it is nice to have when pushing the car to the limits out of corners. I plan to use the car on trackdays on MPSC.

If I buy one without can then a Porsche Center install it afterwards and if so is it worth the money?

Ps
Is a 997 turbo much better than my 2002 996 turbo X50 and worth 85 K extra?

Limited slip is a must. Don't buy car without it. Can be added but very expensive to do at the dealer.

Porsche's front-wheel drive axles come in if the rear differential starts to slip. So theoretically, one could do without. but why not get the LSD for the $950 and by pass all that rear-wheel slippage on wet pavement or going into tight turns. I am surprised not available with auto-trans, but who needs/wants absolute traction with slush-trans anyway. The factory installed LSD doesn't interfere with the cars PSM and PASM systems, but installed later may interfere.

At $950 it's a no brainer for me. Makes you wonder how they charge $950 for this yet $2,700 to cover the air vents in CF

For $950 it's a no brainer, it would cost a lot more to retrofit.

Dumb Questions:
What do you mean by 997TT being worth 85K more than 02TT? How low is the price on a used 02 TT these days?
