Illuminated door sills

Hello all, I have a little dilemma. I ordered my 997tt back in January with the following options.

Atlas Grey Metallic
Black Full Leather
Sport Chrono Package Turbo
Heated Front Seats
Adaptive Sport Seats
Foot Rest Aluminum
Floor Mats - Interior Color
Axle-Differential Lock Rear

It is on the boat as of Feb 20th, I forgot to add the Illuminated door sills. I think a $400 option will now cost me $1,000 to order & install. Has anyone installed these sills, is it as easy as clicking into a wire harness or do you have to wire it to the fuse box? Anyone with any exprience with this?

They are $780, not $400.

Out of curiosity, anyone experience flickering of the light? Both side blinks a few times when I open the door. Is this normal?

A general rule of thumb for parts added after its been built is that the price would be double even if you could get them ordered. I believe that the illuminated door sills are "exclusive" items which therefore makes it nearly impossible to get.

And mine flickers so I guess its normal.

Best I could do on short notice:

Mine do flicker some times but not always...

It's way cool and probably my favorite option so far (man am I superficial!)

I've seen the Boxster ones on the Epiq website, I can't imagine they're that hard to fit. There's a good chance there'll be an inverter too for the lights but surely they should just need hooking in to the courtesy light circuit? I did the same with my footwell lights, the only challenge is finding where to tap in to the circuit. Because the courtesy lights are switched by the DME (I think) you can't go straight to the fuse box, you could tap in to the switch in the door pillar though or, if not, run wire up the A pillar to the courtest light.

I'd be very interested to see what comes in the Porsche kit as I'm working on making my own at the moment and would like to see where they run the wiring.

Chris.

The lights do flicker sometimes immediately after door opening then glow constant. I believe the light is a flourescent bulb and like all flourescent bulbs...they flicker when first illuminated.

Sorry man...but as I have said before...it's my favorite option...it's the first thing you see when you get in and the last when you get out...I REALLY dig it.

Always best to have it done at the factory but many have been installed on standard 997's. They came out right after I took delivery of my 05 S so its been around for 2 years. Some guys do it themselves but I think you might want to take it to the dealer.
