Iam buying one... 997 GT3 997 Turbo or 996 Turbo?
Iam really having trouble to decide... after driving both I found the 996 GT3 Amazing... I loved the torque on tap at any time... I really liked the turbo but it wasnt as fun to drive however ... being that I previously owned a 450HP 94 rx7 I do know what a little engine work might do to that turbo... it has alot of potential... Iam thinking go new on a 997 GT3, or 997 Turbo new or buy a bargain box 996 Turbo 2003-2004 and modifiy the living daylights out of it...
** I currently own a boxster... the turbo didnt feel nimble to me. The Gt3 felt that way...

It sounds like a 997 GT3 is for you.
My brother has a rx7 turbo and it is a blast to drive even though it is now old and I am a little too tall to fit in it!
I have a 03 C4S which probably rides like a stock 996TT except the power of course. Even after I put the X73 suspension, X51 engine upgrade, and aerokit amongst other goodies, it was an improvement but still did not feel as fun to drive, "tossable", etc as my brother's rx7, for example.
A friend has a C2 which at first I did not like as it felt too light and my C4S felt more "planted", but now I am liking the RWD over the AWD.
On these and other pages you will see many mods, etc. to the 997TT which are incredible and make the car look hot, handle and go like stink. But then look at any racing series and what do they race...some version of a GT3 usually (if it is a Porsche), not many TT's (modded or not). The 997TT is a phenomenal car but built on a different principle. GT2's are so rare (even in racing) it is difficult to comment on them.
I too was torn between a 997TT (amazing power, acceleration, etc), a 997 GT3 (less power and maybe less acceleration at legal speeds and way less at illegal speeds, but more communicative, fun and a more even power distribution), and a 997 GT2 (assumedly the best of both worlds, but expensive and insane depreciation).
That is why I too have ordered a 997 GT3 for August delivery. (Who knows maybe I'll order a 997 GT2 in a year or two when we all find out more about them...or not).

An interesting side note.
I was talking to someone recently who had a chance to drive a 997 C2S, an Aston Martin Vantage and an Audi R8. He was very disappointed in the Aston Martin...looked hot but handling... . The R8 was incredible but not as communicative, fun as the C2S. There was an Aston mechanic/driver/rep there who works and has knowledge of many exotic cars, and he was raving high praises about the 997 GT3 (over any other current Porsche). My friend thought that was interesting as this guy has absolutley no affiliation with Porsche.

997 Gt3
How usable is a GT3 on the street? If you do not or track once a twice a year, is what the GT3 offers going to be exploited on back roads or highways? Perhaps the Turbo is less communicative but more forgiving on less than perfect track conditions.
