Rock chips on windshield sUcKs!!!!!!!!!!!!

leaving office...cruising slow with traffic and all of a sudden out of nowhere a rock in the size of a golf ball came launching and landing on the lower part of the driver's side front windshield. Looks like it came off of a wheel of a school bus coming from the other direction. Thank god it didnt land in the middle of the windshield or somewhere that is more visible. I guess i can live with that as it was bound to happen sooner or later. They should really invent windshields that could better withstand from these kind of rock punishment.

Stopped of at the tint shop this weekend

Nice Cart!

If everything goes well I'll be picking up my new 997 TT.. I'm going to have a clear 3M bra put on along with some tint.. He advised me to get the windshield film also..

I have a new CLS55 and the windshield has a chip... 6 months old.

Something to look into

You don't describe the damage, but I just had one repaired today on my RS4, bulls-eye about the size of a nickel. Can barely see it now.

As far as my TT, got hit in the first couple of days, small chip out of sight.

Still. Pisses me off. If that were not enough, I picked up a 1.5 inch self-tapping screw in the rear tire of the TT. 1800 miles. New tire.

I should be set for years now!

The glass man today told me the same thing. He explained that it is best to repair within a few days of the damage. Debris can collect in the cavity that is formed when the glass seperates. The process begins with vacuum of the damage, then resin under pressure to fill the cavity. I was lucky today. The damage is now only visible if you know where to look.

The size of the damage looks like a mini spiderweb in the size of a dime which is located on the very bottom of the driver's side windshield. Used a windshield repair kit last night it is barely visible to others except for me as I KNOW WHERE IT IS..hahahhahaha. If it gets bad, I will have the windshield replaced as I got glass coverage. Just hate to swap out a non OEM windshield through the ins. co.

i have a few minor chips and pitts on my windshield. apparrently this is a common problem due to the type of glass porsche uses. see the fooloowing link:

leaving the track the other weekend my friend with his CarreraS attack me with mega stones!
I think fast cars and stones chips in wnidshield and front bumper are very common....we have to learn how to live with that....

it`s impossible to drive a near 300 kmh car....without stone chips!!!

I know the feeling, man.

Coming home the other day, an SUV in front of me kicked up a nice size rock that left a pretty good mark smack dab in the middle of my windshield. The windshield repair kit I used took care of it extremely well, but I'm in the same boat as I know where it is. Every time I walk out to my car, there it is staring at me!

Ah well. It could have been worse!

If you drive your car fast is impossible not to have any chip stone on the windshield or your paint!!!

Large rock hit right at eye level on drivers side on my S550 when it was less that one month old. Mercedes dealer had it replaced with oem glass. I figured it was better that the windshield got hit rather than the middle of the hood. I have a new windshield, I would have had a repaired hood.
