I once had a rock chip crack my windshield from a truck without a mudflap, I called and filed a claim with the truck company, they paid for a new windshield immediately.

Not everyone is happy with Fidelity warrenty services

Cabman, it looks like not everone is happy with FWS. I realize you can find negative information on anything, but these urls were at the top of a Google search.

Have you made any claims yet? If FWS it really good I may still buy the warrenty.

Its good for 4 years and there is no occurence limit and a $5,000 life time benefit.

I would check your policy closer to make sure the wheels are not covered.

Mine are fully covered for any mishap up to a total $5000 lifetime benefit.

They will replace the tires if there is a nail mishap.

I would think the P Dealers all carry basically the same type of insurance.

I d call the P Dealer and ask them if you are covered.

Beware of newly paved roads.

Here is my bad morning. The asphalt was stripped from the road. The trucks were kicking up stones and I wanted to move away. And I needed to get to the exit. I drove up the ridge between the stripped road and the newly paved road. Bad idea. The front tire went flat immediately and the back lost air in about 5 min. Both tires on one side were cut. The front wheel was bent and nicked up. I'm waiting on the bad cost news from the shop.

When I got the car I purchased the tire ane wheel insurance from Pro Tech Road Hazard. I read the contract and it says they pay up to $250. I don't have a final answer from them but this seems crazy. According to Pro Tech a bent wheel does not qualify as damaged even if it cannot be repaired. If the bent whell holds air Pro Tech considers it good.

Hitting something on the road is considered an accident by my insurance company so its not a good idea to claim it.

Do any of you have expereince with Pro Tech Road Hazard?

I'm not feeling sorry for myself, I have lots to be thankful for. But this thread may save someone else from the same driving mistake or insurance mistake. Regards, Vincy

I wouldn't call that a "newly paved road", I would call that road construction.

How fast were you going? Seems odd the asphalt would cut it just pulling up it.

I feel your pain man. I hate the long construction times anywhere in Maryland, especially I-270, I figured that's where it happened. I have always been afraid of changing lanes in sections like this. Good luck , and I hope you can get it fixed.

File a claim with the public agency that owns & improves the road. You may have to jump through some hoops to get a resolution, but they are ultimately responsible for the condition of the roadway.

What use is a policy limited to $250? Front tires $300+, rear tires $400+, wheel repair $150++ & new wheels $500-$1500. Looks like a worthless policy. The dealer that sold you the insurance did you a disservice.

Not going fast

Lager99, I wasn't going fast, maybe 50. It seems that the tires got cut by going gradually up the ridge. maybe it the angle was higher they would not have been damaged.

Nice guess on location

You were close to the location. This happened on 695 around Baltimore. This kind of stuff makes me feel the TT is too good to use as a daily driver.

I didn't know the policy conditions.

Michael, the policy conditions are so bad that I'm having a hard time believing what I read in the contract. The person I spoke to didn't know anything, so I have to send them the repair bill and see what they pay. I'll let you know when I know for sure.

You may want to contact your agent. He should be able to advise you of the best way to handle it.

Something similar happened to my daughter and he got the company to except it as a comp claim with no addition to my insurance. While it may not work, it may be worth a try.

I would file a claim with the paving contractor that is working on the roadway, he most likely has a generous insurance policy to cover these items....if it was this much of a hazard, he should have the lane blocked.
