V Max @ Bruntingthorpe. Congrats LeonS ;)
They organised the V Max at Bruntingthorpe airfield, England, last weekend.

I got this e-mail from one of the organisers.
"The RT12 took the crown, 207MPH laser verified, the Carrera GT only managed 195."

The RT12 really is a stuff of legend. Enzo-rivalling and CGT-beating performance in such a discreet (relatively speaking, of course) and practical (4WD, real DD-capable) package.
Gotta love the B5 RS4 though. 170+ to 180mph! Too bad there wasn't a derestricted M3 CSL in the test. I've read some reports (dunno how accurate) that a derestricted M3 CSL can do 170+mph. And that Vauxhall Morano was moving!

Thanks for the video Jean.
But it's a bit inconsistent with what we saw when a Ruf R Turbo 650 drove against a CGT at the GTBoard.com event. The video isn't out yet, but soon I hope.
Rolling start at 50 km/h, after about 1.400 m the R Turbo had 323 km/h max on the speedo, and the CGT => 290 km/h.
But yes, the CGT driver said that the R Turbo really started flying after 200 km/h.
Did the Rt12 really floor it at the same time? Looks like he waits in the beginning, standing still vs. the CGT.
There's a huge difference in the V max from the list above, and I can't find it corresponding to what happened in the video:
a difference of 15 mph or 22 km/h is no joke.
I wasn't there so I can't tell.
(There was an Rt12 at the GTBoard.com event, but he just recovered from a flat tire and didn't dare to driven on the repaired one, can't blame him.) But the R Turbo was a tiny bit faster than the Rt12 the one and only run we did.
We can only hope for a re-run in Sept.

I was not there unfortunately but my interpretation is that it seems like the CGT floored it very slightly before the RT12, but not much. It has more torque from lower RPMs being a 5.7Ltr N/A car, therefore it will take the jump first when running side by side (from standstill is different though).
From 100- 200kph they have the exact same acceleration of almost 10 seconds, so if the CGT takes the jump, it will stay ahead, the Rt12 starts picking up at higher speeds, IMO thanks to its lower drag.
If both cars have very close acceleration, and the CGT took the lead early on, it will take the RT12 quite some time to catch the CGT, then while it is coming back on the CGT at higher speeds, it will be building up speed much faster than the CGT , so when it finally catches it, it might be already 10kph faster on the speedo, and then more when it passes.
Basically both cars from a roll, not standstill, the CGT might take the lead initially up to some higher speeds beyond 200kph, where the RT12 will come back very fast on it. Never seen them side by side, just looking at data provided on datalogs.

I guess 100-200 in 10 secs you mean 0-200 in ~10 secs.?
0-200 tests I've seen seems to indicate mid/high 9s in the Rt12, and mid/high 10s for the CGT. Almost a second's difference 0-200.
I'm not trying to baisse the CGT, it's a wonderful car that will beat the Rt12 in many areas, but acceleration is not one of them according to what I've seen in tests and reality.
I presume that the video is a bit misleading. In the V Max UK I guess highest mph wins and it doesn't matter when you hit "it."
In the GTboard.com "conquest" it's a rolling start ~50km/h side by side and whoever hits the finsih line first "wins".
We could debate this for hours, but the difference in V Max is huge, and I look forward to the gtboard video from Gustav. I haven't seen it so could be a surprise!

The CGT has about 370NM of torque at 1000RPMs and goes all the way to 8K +RPMs but for sure the RT12 has higher peak torque.
I don't own either of them, and think both cars are fantastic and would own the Rt12 most likely, but just interested in understanding the facts right.
I will go checkout the videos on the GTboard site, should be very interesting!
Thanks Erik. Cheers

The videos of the CGT vs. Ruf aren't up yet. But there is one with a Supra vs. the R Turbo 650.
Ruf R Turbo 650 vs Toyota Supra 650-750 HP
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=98775
The "Supra guys" came back later and said the Supra only has <=600 hp.
All runs with normal/or r-tires at best and pump gas.

just to clear this up guys, this was due to the fact the cgt driver decided to 'start' too soon, i was caught preparing to shift to 2nd gear when he floored it and forced me to keep in third and accellerate from low revs...not ideal. i guarantee the cgt would have been murdered if we had counted off the start, not a match for a 2wd rt12 in straight line performance from any speed. don't fret as there is bound to be a re-match soon
